Base jumpers leap off building to honor Leap Day

SAN DIEGO ---- Base jumpers leaped off downtown San Diego's Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel tower Friday morning in honor of Leap Day.

The plunges off the tower, more than 30 stories high, began around 7:30 a.m. and were viewed by a small crowd of cheering onlookers from the ground.

Five jumpers leaped oneat a time within minutes of each other in the promotional event, which involved using parachutes decorated with large Red Bull energy drink logos.
