He went 4-for-4 with three RBIs in the Lions Tournament Premier Division championship game, helping the Panthers beat Coronado 11-4 for their fifth victory of the week.

In the Lions Tournament, the senior 1-for-4 with two RBIs in a 12-5 win over Granada Hills, 3-for-3 with an RBI in a 5-3 loss to Patrick Henry, 2-for-3 in a 6-1 loss to Bakersfield Liberty and 2-for-4 in an 8-4 win over Rancho Bernardo.

Rancho Buena Vista > Softball

In the Longhorn Classic, the senior went 1-for-3 in a 7-2 loss to Mission Hills, 3-for-4 in a 6-3 win over Brawley, 1-for-3 in a 6-3 loss to Grossmont and 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 9-0 win over San Dieguito Academy.

In the Lions Tournament, the senior went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in an 18-7 loss to Temecula Valley, 2-for-5 in a 5-4 win over La Costa Canyon and 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 14-2 loss to Viewmont.

In the Lions Tournament, the junior went 2-for-3 with an RBI in a 6-2 win over Palisades, 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in a 10-8 win over Temecula Valley and 1-for-3 in a 9-6 win over Elk Grove.

The senior won the slam dunk contest at the CIF San Diego Section's third annual Senior All-Star Game at Rancho Bernardo High.

La Costa Canyon > Baseball

The senior right-hander, who had a broken back last season, threw a complete-game shutout, striking out 10 in his first start of the season.

Carlsbad > Girls lacrosse

The senior had seven goals and an assist in a pair of nonleague victories.

La Costa Canyon > Boys lacrosse

The senior had four goals and two assists over two matches.

Torrey Pines > Girls track

The freshman won the 800 meters at the Falcon Relays in a section-best time of 2 minutes, 17.75 seconds.

In the Lions Tournament, the sophomore went 1-for-4 in an 8-3 win over Nevada Union, 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 4-1 loss to Montgomery, 3-for-4 in a 14-4 win over Murrieta Valley and 1-for-4 in an 8-1 win over Palisades.

Travis Bates

San Pasqual > Baseball

In the Lions Tournament, the junior went 1-for-4 with an RBI in a 7-5 win over Monte Vista, 2-for-4 with an RBI in a 4-3 win over Clairemont, 2-for-3 with two RBIs in a 9-5 win over San Pedro and was named the Eagles' MVP for the 3A Division finals.

Nathan Baird

San Pasqual > Baseball

The junior had seven hits and five RBIs in five Lions Tournament games, helping the Eagle reach the championship game of the 3A Divisions.

Jarrod Castrejon

Ramona > Baseball

The senior right-hander threw his second consecutive no-hitter, blanking Bountiful of Utah. He struck out 13 batters in the game, didn't issue a walk and was an error away from a perfect game.

Tim Berry

San Marcos > Baseball

The junior left-hander won a pair of Lions Tournament games. He no-hit Linfield Christian over six innings with 12 strikeouts. He also homered in that game. In the semifinals of the 2A Division, he threw four innings and didn't allow a run while striking out seven.

Eddie Cecena

San Marcos > Baseball

The senior right-hander threw a complete game in a 6-4 win over Morse, propelling the Knights into the 2A semifinals of the Lions Tournament. He also had seven hits, including three doubles, and a pair of RBIs, as San Marcos won the 2A title.

Alex Dickerson

Poway > Baseball

The Indiana-bound senior had six hits and five RBIs in five Lions Tournament games as the Titans swept to the Classic Division title. Dickerson had a double and triple in the championship game at USD.

Steve Halcomb

Poway > Baseball

The junior infielder had three home runs, a triple and nine RBIs in five Lions Tournament games, helping the Titans to the Classic Division championship.

Mark Knutson

Escondido Adventist > Boys volleyball

He had 48 kills in four Monte Vista Tournament wins, including 15 against Monte Vista, 14 versus Eastlake and 13 against El Camino.

Jordie Burton

Mission Hills > Softball

She threw a complete-game 1-hitter, shutting out Brawley 4-0. And she was the wining pitcher and went 3-for-4 in a victory over Grossmont.

Lisa Akamine

Escondido > Softball

In a battle of the county's top-ranked teams, she threw a one-hitter and struck out 16 as No. 2 Escondido edged No. 1 Mt. Carmel 1-0. She also had three hits in two other Cougars wins.

Peter Smith

Escondido > Boys basketball

The senior guard scored 25 points in a 108-93 win for the North team and was named the team MVP in the CIF San Diego Section's third annual Senior All-Star Game.

Alex Parks

Mt. Carmel > Girls track

She came into the 400 meters of the Falcon Relays as an alternate and turned in the day's fastest time, completing the race in 59.42 seconds.
