Beer and wine tasting planned at avo fest
FALLBROOK ---- Fallbrook Connections will host wine and beer tasting in the Village Square at Main and Alvarado during the Avocado Festival on April 20.
A fee will be charged for the tasting, and proceeds will help defray some of the cost of the "Hot Summer Nights" events sponsored by the group during the summer months.
Participating wineries and breweries include Fallbrook Winery, Wilson Creek, Temecula Hills, Cougar, Keyways, Tresoro, PRP Wines International and Stone Brewery from San Marcos.
Fallbrook Music Society names board member
FALLBROOK ---- The Fallbrook Music Society has appointed Richard Levering to serve on its board of directors.
Levering is a partner in the CPA firm of Levering and Hvasta LLC in Fallbrook. He received both a bachelor's and a master's degree in accounting in 1969 from Arizona State University. He has been a licensed certified public accountant in California since 1971.
This year, Fallbrook Music Society celebrates its 30th anniversary. As part of its mission, the Music Society provides a classical music symphony series and the annual Symphony "Pops" on the Green as parts of educating and enhancing the musical needs of the surrounding communities. The society also provides youth music and education programs in cooperation with the Fallbrook school districts.

Women's group plans parking-lot sale
FALLBROOK ---- The Fallbrook chapter of Forest Home Women's Auxiliary will have its annual parking lot sale from 8 a.m. to noon April 19 at Albertson's, 1133 S. Mission Road. Items such as home furnishings, clothing, books, collectibles, tools, art, toys, sport, exercise and camping equipment and more will be available.
Forest Home Women’s Auxiliary chapters are a nondenominational spiritual and financial support arm of Forest Home Ministries outside San Bernardino, with an Ojai Valley facility for summer high school camps. The auxiliary provides scholarships for children and families to attend the various camps. Special local and area-wide events and fundraisers, as well as Forest Home retreats, are conducted through the year. Call (760) 728-1236.
Senior center offers driving program
FALLBROOK ---- The Fallbrook Senior Center will offer the new AARP Safe Driving Program at 8:30 a.m. May 6 and 20 at the center, 399 Heald Lane. Register to (760) 728-4498. Fee is $10. Make checks payable to AARP. Completion of the class allows for a reduction in the automobile insurance policy.
Pizza special offered for canned food donations
FALLBROOK ---- Sourdough Pizza will sell a large pizza for only $8 to customers who donate 10 cans of food to the Fallbrook High School ASB canned food drive. All cans are given to the Fallbrook Food Pantry and help to feed needy residents of Fallbrook. Please bring your cans to Sourdough Pizza on April 21 to get a great deal on pizza and help feed the needy.
