Mrs. Obama only person of wealth who complains

In reply to J. Howard Crews' letter of May 23: Yes, I mentioned the Obama's large Illinois home and Mrs. Obama's income of $300,000 (really $316,000) with the university because she appreciates nothing. She whines about having to repay her college loans, as everyone does. She has had every advantage and she whines about what a mean country this is. I don't care what color she is –– she's a very ungrateful woman and discourages others of her race. She should be encouraging her race by encouraging them and being an example.

By the way, I begrudge no one anything. But then Crews does rant on about a lot of hot air. McCain is free to own however many homes he wishes. He has earned them the hard way. Crews is the one who begrudges. I don't know where he got his information, but it is really none of his business.

Michele is the only person of wealth I know of who complains. But this seems to be the result of the church she attends. Her pastor is unhappy with his wealth and success. Shame on Howard, for not backing his country.

Owed more than a moment

As a former combat veteran in Vietnam (1968-69), I was driving around when I heard on the radio that President Bush asked all of our fellow citizens to pause for "a moment" on Memorial Day to honor our fallen. I saw the same on the local news this evening and they repeated "a moment." Perhaps our nation's fallen deserve more than a moment? It seems Memorial Day has become just a reason to have a big party, to barbecue, to go furniture and automobile shopping. Maybe we owe all of the true heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice more than a moment.

Only for the Padres game?

Being against mass transit, I was hesitant to use the new Sprinter, but I tried it recently and was pleasantly surprised. Now I'm a believer.

So I thought the Coaster would also be a good bet. I thought it would be nice to go to San Diego for a Saturday, stay over and come home Sunday. But no, it doesn't run on Sunday and only every three hours on Saturday, except for Padres games! Why is a private organization able to command the Coaster run ... ? I can imagine people would like to go to San Diego for SeaWorld, the Gaslamp, Street Scene, the zoo, Seaport Village, Old Town and others, as well as more northern destinations, Del Mar Fair, races and beaches. Those businesses would like the customers also, but apparently they don't have the clout of the Padres owner. I don't think this is right.

If you want people to get off the highways, you gotta offer a choice. Perhaps businesses could offer discounts for dinners and entrance fees and increase ridership enough to pay for it to run on weekends. The Coaster could offer a weekend pass at a good rate and people like me could enjoy the pleasant ride of mass transit. But come on, only for the Padres? Forget it.

Time to get people out of their cars

I would like to express my desire to make Southern California a place where its citizens don't have to be forced into buying a car and join the traffic-jammed freeways and highways of the county. I believe it is time to improve the public transportation system, and invest in setting up a transportation system connecting all the cities in Southern California. It is the only safe investment if we want to avoid turning our streets into parking lots.

In an effort to reduce gasoline and car dependency, and contribute to the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, we need to change our means of transportation. In Northern California, I saw big parking lots full of cars where the drivers were riding the BART or train. As gasoline prices keep rising, more people will seek alternatives to driving their vehicles.

We should train our own engineers

Regarding your article by Edward Sifuentes, "Issa proposes eliminating 'visa lottery,'" May 21: Congressman Darrell Issa (R-49th District) seeks (via HR 609) to reallocate 55,000 visas from random selection to technically desirable persons sought as employees by businesses. Issa's rationale: "We should run our immigration system, wherever possible, the way you would run a business." ...

The business of business is to make a profit; the business of government is to fill potholes, educate our children, make sure our food is safe to eat, provide for the nation's defense and so forth. The U.S.A. is the wealthiest nation in the world. With 5 percent of the world's population, we consume 25 percent of its resources. You would think that we would be able to educate and train our own work force. No, conservatives like Congressman Issa see no problem in raiding Second World nations like India for its engineers and the Philippines for its nurses.

My God, a nation as wealthy as the U.S.A. should be sending engineers, doctors and nurses to Second and Third World nations to help them solve their problems. We should not be enticing their skilled people to come here.

Global warming: Lots of media hot air

The cascading and never-ending media hype about global warming is probably why Gerold Firl (Letters, May 15) attacks Darrell Beck's letter (May 12), which admonished Newt Gingrich for endorsing action on global warming. You can't fault Firl for his beliefs; the media hasn't given the global warming debate a fair shake.

Throughout 1989, Time, flagship magazine for Time Warner, published a series of articles supporting the global warming theory, and Time Warner then with 23 magazines, newspapers, book publishing houses, numerous TV and film production studios, had a reach and influence that was and is far and wide.

Few, if any, other media conglomerates announced support for the global warming theory –– they just dropped the scientific debate and concentrated on the action line supporting global warming.

What Firl and others won't read in the papers is that water vapor is slightly more effective at absorbing radiant heat than CO2 and that, day to day, changes in water vapor can be thousands of parts per million or even 10,000 of ppm. What's the big worry about a mere 385 ppm of CO2? Can less than four parts of CO2 per 10,000 heat the other 9,996.15 parts of the atmosphere? No, it can't.

Parking nightmare marred concert

My wife and I took two hours to travel two miles on Monday night, completely missing Elvis Costello and half of The Police set. We had planned for some traffic, but this was ridiculous. We crawled around the entire venue while hearing one of our favorite bands play, only to be put in a parking lot near the entrance. We saw six policemen and three parking attendants during this entire process; they behaved like nothing was wrong. This cannot be the first time a show has been sold out here, Chula Vista, and the venue should be capable of getting people in and out in an orderly manner.

I blame the city for lack of infrastructure, the venue for poor planning and the band for not appearing to care. There were thousands of other people just like us. I know because, after the show, being the last to park, we were also the last to leave and had over an hour to discuss it with our fellow victims. These were not cheap tickets. Our experience was ruined; we will never go to this venue again and will struggle listening to this band's music.

Bush's priorities are backward

In the Sunday, May 18 story about Bush's failed trip to Saudi Arabia("Saudi oil boost doesn't solve U.S. problem"), Bush is quoted: "Our problem in America gets solved when we aggressively go for domestic exploration. Our problem in America gets solved if we expand our refining capacity, promote nuclear energy and continue our strategy for the advancement of alternative energies, as well as conservation."

His priorities are exactly the reverse of what we really need. What we need is: 1. Conserve and increase our efficiency of energy use so we don't waste as much. 2. Develop renewable energy sources for our country as soon as possible to eliminate our dependency on unstable/unfriendly countries for our energy. (See www.ases.org/climatechange for a downloadable report from the American Solar Energy Society that shows how conservation and renewable sources can do the job for the U.S.). 3. To the extent that we can't supply all our energy immediately from renewable sources, we may need to build a few nuclear power plants for electric needs, but "promote" it? No! 4. Stop building oil infrastructure that will be worthless in a few decades. 5. Forget drilling ANWR to get a few weeks' worth of oil. We need regime change!

Congressional approval for an attack on Iran

Just over one year ago, on May 16, 2007, 288 representatives in our Democrat-controlled House voted against the Constitution. They voted against the DeFazio amendment (HR 187) to the defense appropriations bill HR 1585. The amendment merely restated Article 1 Section 8.11 of the Constitution by requiring Mr. Bush to get congressional approval for an attack on Iran.

These representatives included four of our five local representatives; only Bob Filner (D) supported the Constitution. Darrell Issa (R), in early 2007, was the only local representative who publicly opposed an attack on Iran. Even Filner didn't take such a position. Issa then followed the orders of his leadership and voted against his conscience. Duncan Hunter (R), Brian Bilbray (R) and Susan Davis (D) joined Issa in following their leader, their Decider.

I believe the war on terror is an existential threat. We are more threatened, however, by domestic counterterrorism than by foreign terrorism. Whether or not you agree, whether or not you support an attack on Iran, defend what's left of our Constitution. Call your representative and senators at (202) 224-3121. Demand Congress pass legislation requiring Bush to get congressiona0l approval for an attack on Iran.

Sam wrote on May 31, 2008 1:45 AM:You guys said it could not happen here with SB777. Well anyway, not to be outdone Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, a Democrat, signed SB200 Friday eliminating gender-specific restrooms and locker rooms statewide. Some say this gives woman and girls reason to fear being confronted by predators, cross-dressers or even a homosexual or heterosexual male while in the privacy of a public toilet.
The state's new "transgender nondiscrimination" bill makes it illegal to deny a person access to public accommodations, including restrooms and locker rooms, based on gender identity or the "perception" of gender identity.
Gov. Ritter signed the Expanded Discrimination Prohibitions, approved by the legislature, with this definition:
"'Sexual orientation' means a person's orientation toward heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, or transgender status or another person's perception thereof."

The legislation lists every type of organization to which this law applies, including restaurants, bathhouses, gyms, barber shops, massage parlors, mortuaries, theaters and public facilities of any kind indoor and outdoor. It does not include churches and other houses of worship. Those who would attempt to protect females from this intrusion are subject to a fine of up to $5,000 and up to one year behind bars.

The bill also makes it illegal to discriminate based on "sexual orientation" or the "perception" when hiring for employment, renting, selling or leasing housing or when selecting members for jury duty." Penalties for those who discriminate against others based on gender identity include fines and/or time in jail.
Now besides the very serious implications of this bill, and the trends it reflects, women are going to have to put up with tolet seats left up, and worse toilet seats wet from being left down.

Rorschach test wrote on May 31, 2008 5:00 AM:Why does John Scanlon demand that Congress pass legislation to put into law something that he says is already in the Constitution?
He writes: "The amendment merely restated Article 1 Section 8.11 of the Constitution by requiring Mr. Bush to get congressional approval for an attack on Iran."
The Constitution says no such thing. If Congress thought it did they wouldn't need the new legislation or the long ago passed War Powers Act.
How many declared wars have we had? How many times has a president deployed troops to fight in a foreign land?
Congress has the power to declare war. The President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. As with everything else contained therein, the Constitution is at best vague on this issue.
Congress' only recourse if a president goes off own his own is not to pay for it. Or impeachment.

I highly doubt that "Time Warner published a series of articles supporting the global warming theory..." It's more likely that Time Warner "examined" the theory, rather than supported it. Supporting or promoting something suggests taking sides on an issue, when it's a newsmagazine or newpaper's job to simply report, in this case on findings made by climate scientists.

Joan Horn stated, "This is no longer about illegal immigration. It is targeting a specific group to demonize and then attack. We need to discuss illegal immigration in a rational manner and reject the lies, exaggeration and calls to violence that hate groups are promoting for their own evil goals".
This very same statement rings true for some of the groups and individuals who support Illegal Immigration. I have watched many videos of the SDMM and their like, and I have also watched many videos of the Pro-Illegal and Reconquista movements, and have found both sides to be just as hateful and racist.
Take "La MecHa" for instance, just it's name alone speaks of war. The word "MecHa" is derived from the Japanese abbreviation meka for the English word "mechanical". Mecha, also known as meka or mechs, are walking war machines or vehicles controlled by a pilot.
The acronym MEChA stands for "Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan." or "Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan." MEChA is a Hispanic separatist organization that encourages anti-American activities and civil disobedience. The radical members of MEChA who refer to themselves as "Mechistas," romanticize Mexican claims to the "lost Territories" of the Southwestern United States.
These anti-American "Mechistas" live with the false illusion that they are being racially discriminated against because they are Latinos while totally dismissing the idea that maybe it is their ideology that is being discriminated against.
You see, hate, racism, and xenophobia run on both sides of the Illegal Immigration issue. I, for one, am sick and tired of the hateful, Pro-Illegal side of this issue being ignored. Day in and day out, we are constantly reminded of the hateful Anglo, American groups one side of this issue, while people want to turn a blind eye on the other. There are ALWAYS more than one side to an issue.

On the one hand, he laments the fact that we have to go overseas to fill the brain drain we have, yet on the other hand is totally unable to see how we got here.
After decades of a liberal run public school monopoly, is it any wonder why we don't educate engineers, doctors, and nurses? Where the focus is not education, it is liberal ideological driven baloney like SB777?
But, that a lib for ya! They are competely unable to objectively see that the very policies they have imposed upon the society have made it disfunctional. I mean.. think about it for a second. They have had control of this school system for many decades, and yet when it fails to produce these necessary functions to our society, they complain that we must go overseas to get qualified people? Seems to me that someone wasn't doing their job. But, that would go totally over the head of a lib. They just would not get it. Or, take for example the price of gas? The lib's & the leftist enviro's have placed off limits to drilling nearly 40% of domestic oil supplies. They will not let us drill for more oil to reduce the price, and yet... they still want to be able to complain about rising gas prices. But, again.. when you live your life in the emotional sphere, logic & reason escape you.

Do those who use the roads pay for improving them?
Well, getting more people out of their cars and into mass transit does improve his roads by making them less congested, flowing faster, etc., not to mention reduced demand for gas putting downward pressure on prices. The climatic and environmental benefits to him are also valid, but a different issue since they are not related to road improvements.
To improve climate, environment, and traffic, mass transit fees should be greatly reduced, maybe even free or just a token charge. They should be subsidized by everyone who benefits, which is, more than anyone, drivers of cars.

Nick wrote on May 31, 2008 9:48 AM:More on La MecHa, straight from their website.
In March of 1969, at Denver, Colorado the Crusade for Justice organized the National Chicano Youth Conference that drafted the basic premises for the Chicana/Chicano Movement in El Plan de Aztlán (EPA). A synopsis of El Plan stipulates:
1) We are Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán reclaiming the land of our birth (Chicana/Chicano Nation);
2) Aztlán belongs to indigenous people, who are sovereign and not subject to a foreign culture;
3) We are a union of free pueblos forming a bronze (Chicana/Chicano) Nation;
4) Chicano nationalism, as the key to mobilization and organization, is the common denominator to bring consensus to the Chicana/Chicano Movement;
5) Cultural values strengthen our identity as La Familia de La Raza; and 6) EPA, as a basic plan of Chicana/Chicano liberation, sought the formation of an independent national political party that would represent the sentiments of the Chicana/Chicano community.
The Chicana/Chicano student movement has been plagued by opportunists that have sought to rechannel the energies of our people and divert us from our struggle for self determination. The educational plight of Chicana and Chicano students continues to be ignored by insensitive administrators. Overall, Chicana/Chicano junior high, high school and college pushout rates have risen since 1969, forcing many Chicanas and Chicanos to a life of poverty. These factors along with a growing right wing trend in the nation are combining to work greater hardships on Chicanas and Chicanos. New repressive and racist immigration laws are continuously directed at our Gente. Along with this, the current administration has started the process of dismantling Affirmative Action and Civil Rights protections. Just as Hispanics seeks to deny our indigenous heritage, so does Latino.
M.E.Ch.A. is committed to ending the cultural tyranny suffered at the hands of institutional and systematic discrimination that holds our Gente captive. We seek an end to oppression and exploitation of the Chicano/Chicana community.

As Mechistas, we proclaim that we are the people of Aztlán and that we recognize our indigenous unity with our brothers and sisters of Ixachitzlan (Alaska to Tierra del Fuego). We declare that we are the descendants of El Quinto Sol. Our fundamental drive is to organize and challenge Chicana/Chicano estudiantes to maintain self-respect and dignity to overcome historical prejudices and discrimination against the Chicana and Chicano Gente.
Cheers, Nick.

As for Nick and his MeCha complaints, he needs to look at 1969 to source his rant. Those 1969 words and positions were of punks who were anti-Vietnam War, anti-Free Enterprise, anti-white, and anti-USA communists, small c.

Ron wrote on May 31, 2008 10:20 AM:I think Dave English has struck gold today. You know, if you've been around this subject as much as I have, then you quickly understand that within the group of Americans who call themselves believers of Global warming: there are basically two groups. Now, I'm talking about the general public, not scientists, but your average liberal American. In the first group, you have those who have taken an interest in the subject, and have researched it for themselves, of course, within their own ability to understand a complex science such as climate. These people are few in numbers, as the average American simply can not get past the long, very technical, & mathmatically intensive subject matter.
But the largest group, by far, are those who have read, or heard about global warming, have learned whatever they know about it from Time, or some other popular magazine, or Al Gore's movie. And for them, they trust the magazine, or they trust Al Gore, and so.. they believe.
And for many, within their particular social circles, it's a fad. You know.. who can be greener, sort of thing.
It is another version of "Keeping up with the Jones's." I'm driving a Prius, so my neighbor buys a Prius, I buy a solar array, so my neighbor buys a solar array, it's typically Amercian consumerism driven by ideological forces. But in the main, the thinking {or lack of} within this second group is lacking, they are the followers. They trust a popular source, and their behavior reflects their trust in that source being right. Now, this is America, and all Americans can do anything they want, including following fads, buying whatever they want to keep up with their neighbors, or joining a cult. I'm perfectly alright with all that. What I don't like is the snobbery that goes along with this mindless consumerism and faddish behavior. For most of these people, their Prius or their solar panels are a "status symbol." It say's to the rest of us, "I care more than you do." And that's exactly what it's intended to do, it accurately reflects the superiorist mindset behind this new fad, without the faintest idea of why they are doing it.

Gas tax, registration, car tax, driver's license fee's, etc. Now until this "earmarked" money was being redirected to other spending, Yes.. it was supposed to be spent on fixing road, building new one's, and upgrading our infrastructure.
Even if you consider a bond measure, the number of non-driving Californians is so little, even if they are hit with a portion of paying for improvements, it is so little, it's not worth mentioning.
And think about this, if we have "extra" sales tax money to spend on this choo-choo at 70% of total operating cost, then how is it we don't have any money to help reduce the congestion on our highways? And help the people who pay the lion's share of this money? And don't give me this nonsense about the train being a reasonable means to reduce congestion on the 78. Rememeber, I live not 1/4 mile from this train, and I watch it nearly everyday with very few riders.
And most of those people, don't own cars, I suspect.

Chicago Sun Times

April 5, 2004

"These days, he says, he attends the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Trinity in the Brainerd neighborhood every week -- or at least as many weeks as he is able. His pastor, Wright, has become a close confidant. "

Obama says he reads the Bible, though not as regularly as he'd like, now that he's on the campaign trail. But he does find time to pray.

"It's not formal, me getting on my knees," he says. "I think I have an ongoing conversation with God.... I'm constantly asking myself questions about what I'm doing, why I am doing it.

"The biggest challenge, I think, is always maintaining your moral compass."

"Friends and advisers, such as the Rev. Michael Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina Roman Catholic Church in the Auburn- Gresham community on the South Side, who has known Obama for the better part of 20 years, help him keep that compass set, Obama says. "

Obama listed radical Priest Pfleger as a Spiritual Advisor on the official Obama website until the recent tapes of Father Pfeger became public.

Is this a satisfactory reference, Obamacan? Your candidiate appears to be surrounded by not just questionable people, but by the most radical of the radical.

Censorship, in its contemporary use, is a broad and expansive term that includes complete redaction by a governing body. Limiting is a much looser term that includes just moral restrictions, such as calling anyone who disagrees, a “racist” or practicing “hate speech” or “hating” which are NOT censorship, but rather an attempt to place people in a box wherein they will practice self-limiting self-restraint.

I hope that this distinction will suffice. My time at Annapolis was a very long time ago, but I am still a regularly published columnist in North County, so writing, and advanced degrees, are more recent skills appropriate to THIS discussion than my schooling half a century ago.

My Annapolis education is germane to my contemporary experience with John McCain, and my undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree, but little else.

Yzaguirre says:
"Hillary Clinton has spent more than three decades advocating on behalf of those who are invisible in America... Not only is she the most experienced and qualified candidate to be president, Senator Clinton has the ability to bring people together to get results and move this country forward."

In 2001 he was named to Sears' board of directors, and he also supported legalization for all illegal aliens:
"Whatever law will be passed must apply to everyone equally... I think we're talking millions, otherwise I don't think we have something we would be interested in."
And:
In 2001, the National Council of La Raza, conducted focus groups to see what the (American) public thought of the word "amnesty." Raul Yzaguirre, president of the group at the time, told the Dallas Morning News that as a result of the focus groups he advised Mexican President Vicente Fox never to use the word, instead referring to "regularization" or "legalization." Now, I will agree that $4 dollar gas is pushing more people into smaller cars, Prius being one of those cars. But, that wasn't what I was talking about. I'm talking about people who bought these things because of their ideological leanings. People who bought before gas hit $4 dollars, like you.
And have stated many, many times why you bought it. It's the same with a solar array. OBAMACAN wrote on May 31, 2008 1:07 PM:Reardon at 11:17 a.m. shows another excellent example of how conservatives make little, subtle shifts of facts to distort and misrepresent.
In yesterday's 5/30 comments, at 9:56 p.m., Reardon said: "Obama said Rev. Pfleger is his "moral compass." Enough said. It is in Obama's own words."
Gee, wouldn't you say this sounds like he is asserting that Obama actually uttered the words that designated Pfleger as "his" spiritual advisor? Not "a" spiritual advisor, but clearly a role of singular prominence?
When I asked him to back that up, he conveniently moves the goal posts.
It turns out that, at least as far as Reardon's new documentation is concerned, Obama never said that at all. He did use the term "moral compass" and say that everyone needs one.
Then Reardon's source reports he did say that he implied (no exact quote) that, far from having a unique or special role as "moral compass," he kind of helps in that direction. And what exactly IS his role? He is listed on the campaign's website as "a" (not "the") spiritual advisor. He is included in a list on the website!
Did Reardon bother to go to the actual Obama website? No, why consider a primary source if he can more easily distort and misquote a newspaper article?
I did. Under the heading "people of faith" there are pages and pages of people of faith listed. This is an honorary role given to many. Reardon must not have much experience with serious campaigns if he does not understand how this works.
So tell us Reardon, do you really not understand this or are you really, really careless or are you maybe fudging the facts just a bit?

Note how conservatives operate.
He is trying to divert from the real issues by - what? Pointing fingers at a very remote, tangential individual and try any way to stretch it into a connection?
What he doesn't want to talk about is McCain's admitted ignorance about the economy, or how McCain keeps bungling errors on his supposed strong suit, foreign policies and the war - such as not knowing the difference between Sunni and Shiite, or repeatedly getting it wrong yesterday on surge troop levels, while lecturing Obama on foreign policy.
Don't forget, Obama was the only one who got it right from day one on Iraq.
And notice Reardon's neat little dodge.
When I replied to him last night, I noted his hypocritical double standard.
Obama's "pastor problems" come from religious advisors when they digress into the political realm, which is not where Obama ever sought advice from them.
IN CONTRAST, McCain sought POLITICAL support from Hagee, Parsley, Robertson and Falwell, who each made statements far deeper off the edge of hate speech than anything either Pfleger or Wright ever said.
Does Reardon hold McCain to the same standard?
Have all Republican Catholics renounced their church after discovery of its intentional, centrally-managed role in feloniously protecting and covering up crimes of sex abuse against children?
Is this really where you want to run the campaign?
Or is it all you have?

He worked closely with the publisher as a PUBLISHER, handling publishing business, not as a ghost writer.
You ought to learn more about the book publishing business.
Not everyone who gets a book published by a real publishing company has their publisher write it for them.

Not so. I find Obama and his web site pretty straight shooters. Of course, they promote the candidate and his vision for the future. That is for which a web site is designed. But, compare his web site with objective news or in depth reporting. Pretty close, my friend. And, Karl, you are not the Pope. So, please do not pontificate.

So what! Good ole Scottie has stated that he is the author of the book.

Sam wrote on May 31, 2008 6:00 PM:To Karl and everyone else reading my 1:45AM Post. No, my post at 1:45 AM about the new law in Colorado SB 200 today is not a joke. But it is worse than I summarized. It also says that those who would attempt to protect females from this intrusion into their bathrooms and shower rooms are subject to a fine of up to $5,000 and up to one year behind bars. And there is something about a clause in it saying it is enacted as emergency legislation and not subject to be overturned by the initiative process. It will be in some of the newspapers soon. You can confirm it with a Google search now, be sure to add the word "signed" as there are a lot of references prior to its being signed Friday. I read about it on the World Net Daily web site (WND) last night or early this morning. I often see stories there several days before they hit printed papers.

My Irish wolf hound would be a better President than John (McBush)McCain. Lastly, what Karl, Reardon, Ron,Mike America and the remainder of the conservative crew say does not matter. Obama is the candidate. These wayward ministers and priest are not candidates.
The conservos can not address the program or the candidate, Obama. They would fail just like Johhnie Boy will fail.

Nick wrote on May 31, 2008 7:33 PM:To "Enough Already Nick": First off, your statement that I hate "brown folks" is pretty funny. I happen to be brown also, so please explain to me in your great wisdom how that works.

Secondly, you make another idiotic statement with "I guess you are lumped in the group of hatred towards our new immigrants". I take it you are talking about the 20+ Million people here ILLEGALLY! They ARE NOT Immigrants, so quit with the lame word game. I have NO hatred toward immigrants or those here Illegally. I am totally fed up with those here Illegally and bleeding our social, medical, and educational systems dry. There is a huge difference between being fed up and hatred. Apparently your not intelligent enough to be able to distinguish the difference.
This is a free Country where we enjoy the freedom of speech, so I will post what ever I please. You are also free not to read my posts if you so choose.
And last but not least, I can't help but laugh at your rediculous statemnet that The Obamas had to overcome something to become successful...LMAO. They both were raised in privelaged homes and went to the finest of schools. Please enlighten us as to what exactly they had to overcome. You are one of those folks living in your own fantasy land with a strange sense of reality. That's kinda scary if you ask me.

Bill wrote on May 31, 2008 8:19 PM:Obamacanewith some mythical right "to be heard" that liberals love to speak of.

When San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome diverted the Olympic torch route to avoid protestors last month, the looney tunes liberals in SF cried foul with claims that he "violated" their free speech rights by doing so.The protestors had every opportunity to say what they wanted to say but nobody was there to listen.

Boo hoo!

That is what Obamacan doesnt comprehend.

He has no such right to be heard and I see that he has a problem with that.

He clearly doesnt like it when others exercise their free speech rights.

That is perfectly clear.

This same mentality was apparent in the media when people boycotted the Dixie Chicks a while back. Liberal columnists in prize winning newspapers didnt know the difference.

You have no right to be heard and its tough beans if someone disagrees with you.

This is America!

Others have those same rights that you demand so loudly.

There are no SUVs or factories there that I know of.

There werent any around when the last ice age ended either.

I want explanations to from the GW crowd.

Just like the whole environmental movement, its nothing but a thinly disguised attack on capitalism.

What a hoax!

What kind of people believe this kind of nonsense?

Chris to Ron wrote on May 31, 2008 8:58 PM:Your post for 1:40 pm is just more of your bull. Michigan and Florida were told what would happen if they held their primaries too early but they flipped the Party off and did it anyway. Clinton said that it didn't matter until she fell behind and now as far as she is concenered screw the rules. But the point in your blog was to just criticize Obamba and you don't really care about what is going on between them. By the way why don't you learn to say what you have to say without so many pointless words?

sdraoul wrote on May 31, 2008 9:44 PM:If anyone can produce any other writings of Scottie McClellan they might prtove Scottie wrote the book. However, they won't find anything longer than a letter to the editor.

Did none of you read that excerpt I posted from the Wall Street Journal that quotes the left-wing George Soros surrogate editor? he said, he "worked closely" with SCottie. For real writers tyhat means, ghost writer.

McClellan didn't write the more politically "salacious" parts of the book. Theyw ere obviously written for him.

He never participated in any policy meetings about the Iraq War, ever. So, he couldn't possibly know what was said at thso emeetings. His job was "domestic."

Doesn't matetr, John McCain will win the election by carrying Michigan and Ohio.

Who would you rather have answer the red phone in the White House at 3:00 a.m., John McCain or Jermeiah Wright/Father Pfleger guided Barack Obama?

They like Native Americans here in the U.S. disregard the Vikings and Bering Strait theories. They were here before the white man and had an established way of life. You're fed up? How do Native Americans feel when they have been oppressed and discriminated for so long in their own home? i don't think you're fed up enough, because all you do is copmplain and try to vilify the illegals. Have you done any volunteer work or applied for a second job? There are plenty of Burger Kings hiring right now. That would be a start on reducing the illegal presance in our country! If you are brown, tehn I'm sure you have encountered some discrimination too. So I bet it's more of a self esteem issue that you are suffering from and try to deal with it by directing your frustration on the illegals.

DD Wiz wrote on Jun 1, 2008 9:20 AM:The post from "sdraoul" (9:44pm) continues his usual rant on behalf of the Republican slime machine, inventing all manner of false allegations against Scott McClellan for having the temerity, however tragically belatedly, of speaking truth to power. As usual, he just throws mud, hoping something will stick to the wall, while offering not the slightest bit of credible substantiation.
Forget credible. None at all.
As for his absurd inability to distinguish between "working closely" with a real book publisher and "ghost writing," yes, anyone who has worked with professional book publishers does know the difference. I have "worked closely" with professional editors from real book publishers who helped correct spelling/grammar/punctuation, abridge verbosity, advise organizational reworking, simplify language, and express my words more effectively (oh, and did I mention anything about shortening, streamlining and simplifying?). In turn, I have also worked as a paid consultant for other writers to help them bring out the best of their own writing, without actually writing for them or ghost writing. It is truly sad that "sdraoul" does not understand how this works.
As for his question about who I'd rather have answer the red phone at 3:00am, I would rather have the guy who got it right the first time: Barack Obama, notwithstanding the convenience of having John McCain already up that time of the night having to go potty.

Oh raoul Oh reardon wrote on Jun 1, 2008 10:59 AM:Raoul: For demonstrated judgment, particularly about Iraq, I'd rather have Obama answering that phone, no question about it, even if you hyphenate or backslash his name with satan himself. Name associations will never replace real judgment demonstrated in action. Obama was the one who got Iraq right; McCain has voted to give Bush just about everything Bush ever asked for. That says it all about judgment for me and, I hope, most Americans.
Reardon, mea culpa: I got wrong who you intend to vote for. I hope that's not a felony. Shall we discuss what you've gotten wrong here? LOL Ever grasping at straws, Reardon. Criticizing your speech is the same as limiting it? But limiting it isn't the same as censoring it? Huh? Grain derived fuel being the major cause of the rise in food prices? Well, we could go on and on, but why bother?
