LAKE ELSINORE ---- Police arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of stabbing a man during an altercation Saturday, authorities said Monday.
Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, officers were called about a stabbing in the 28500 block of 11th Street in Lake Elsinore, said Sgt. Michael Yates.
Officers headed to the area spotted a speeding car and stopped it, detaining two people inside, police said. About the same time, officers were told of a stabbing victim at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
After interviewing the victim at the hospital, officers determined that those being detained near the crime scene had been involved in the stabbing, Yates said. Both were taken to the Lake Elsinore Police Station and were later booked in connection with the stabbing, the sergeant said.
No information about the second person who was booked was provided by police.
Sometime during the altercation with the victim, the 17-year-old boy pulled out a knife and stabbed the man once in the left side of his chest, Yates said.
The victim, identified only as an adult, was hospitalized in stable condition and his injury is not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
