(Photo by Steve Thornton - Staff Photographer) WILDOMAR ---- Fire destroyed a mobile home in northern Wildomar on Thursday afternoon, displacing a single mom and her children, authorities said.
The woman's two children were inside the mobile home when the fire started about 2 p.m., but they escaped without suffering major injuries, according to family members at the scene.
One of the minors was taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. His mother, who was at work at the time of the fire, was with her son at the hospital as firefighters were finishing up at the scene about 4 p.m.
A crew of 14 firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to any of the neighboring homes in the 32000 block of Mountain View Avenue in the northern reach of Wildomar. There was no estimated loss provided on a news release from the Riverside County Fire Department.
Fire officials said the cause of the blaze is under investigation. The father of the woman who lived inside the home said he was told a faulty electrical panel was to blame.
The woman's parents, who were at the scene, said the children followed the family's evacuation plan perfectly.
"Mom had coached them on what to do," said the children's grandmother, who asked not to be identified.
