WILDOMAR: No incorporation flyover

WILDOMAR ---- The pilot of the T-34 plane scheduled to do a flyover at the start of Tuesday's Wildomar incorporation ceremony couldn't get the plane going, City Councilwoman Bridgette Moore said Wednesday.

Moore said the pilot, George Watson, of Temecula, called at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday and told organizers he couldn't get it going. He didn't mention any specific mechanical issue. The flyover had been scheduled for 6 p.m.

The master of ceremonies, Stan Crippen, joked during the event that there had been a flyover, but people didn't notice because it was a stealth plane. People in the stands quipped that the high cost of fuel grounded the plane.

Moore said Wednesday afternoon that Watson called to apologize.
