ESCONDIDO: State high court won't review molestation conviction

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday declined a request to review the conviction of a former Escondido school teacher convicted of molesting his students.
Peter Thomas Ziskin is serving a sentence of 15 years to life for multiple convictions in May 2006 that he touched the genitals of eight boys with the back of his hand while roughhousing with them at Rincon Middle School.
In April, the 4th District Court of Appeals upheld the conviction, finding there had been sufficient evidence to support the jury's verdict.
In that ruling, the San Diego-based appeals court rejected Ziskin's arguments, including the contention that the touching was misunderstood and that any inference of sexual intent was speculative. Ziskin also had argued that there had been prosecutorial misconduct and that improper evidence was shown to the jury.
Ziskin's attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.
