Road rage? How about citizen rage?

What will it take to wake up this country to the criminal and financial threat that we face from illegals –– yes illegals, not immigrants, as some would have you believe. A low-life gangster illegal from El Salvador allegedly shoots to death a family man and his two sons because he didn't have enough room to pass them ("Father, son victims of road rage killing in San Francisco," June 25). This gangster had two arrests for other charges, and was not turned over to the feds for deportation because San Francisco is a sanctuary city. This is thinking right out of medieval times.

The illegal supporters will cry that it is a lone instance, but don't let them fool you. It happens every day in this country, in one way or another. How long and how much will it take for the law-abiding citizenry to stand up and say enough is enough? Enforce the laws on illegal entry. Any city that declares itself a "sanctuary" should be deprived of any federal funds for any and all projects. All our hearts should go out to this poor woman who lost her family because of laxity on enforcing the law of the land. ...

Better, cheaper ideas than a tunnel

The High Speed Rail Authority would spend $900 million to dig tunnels to route the train to the Escondido Transit Center. ("A 'Tunnel Too Far' award." Roses and raspberries, July 28.)That's crazy. No wonder this train never gets built.

They should put the HSR station closer to downtown, perhaps in the industrial area just south of the 15/78 interchange, where the Sprinter tracks already cross Interstate 15. Put a transfer station there to connect to the Sprinter. Build an automated people-mover tram, like those that go between terminals at many large airports, from the HSR station to the transit center. Or just put in a covered pedestrian walk and run a shuttle bus between the stations!

Bring back German

As a public school student in California, I am very angry about the budget cuts to schools. I was actually looking forward to taking other languages besides Spanish. The only languages that will be taught at our school district are Spanish and English, when all I wanted to learn was French or German.

Also, they are taking away the fun electives like wood shop, which really sucks. My brother has taken one year of German in high school and now it is no longer being offered, so he has to take Spanish to get two years of the same language credit. The school district should at least offer German this school year so that he can complete his graduation requirement without starting over.

Give credit to Jersey Tomato inventor

The "Return of the Jersey Tomato" story on July 27, a reprint from The New York Times, omitted a couple of very important paragraphs about a local tomato celebrity. Dr. Bernard Pollack, horticulture professor emeritus from Rutgers University, who lives in Oceanside, was the person who first "invented" the Ramapo tomato when at Rutgers many long years ago. He spent many years when at Rutgers working with the tomato farmers north of Oceanside alongside Interstate 5.

I am an American!

In a recent column, author and radio talk show host Dennis Prager wrote: "The gulf between John McCain and conservatives is minuscule compared to the gulf between John McCain and Barack Obama." To this I say, balderdash! McCain and Obama are two peas in the same pod (three if you include Hillary), with both racing hell-bent to remove our borders by 2010 (under the Council on Foreign Relations plan for the North American Union) and revive and pass the Bush/McCain/Kennedy/Graham amnesty for (10 to 30 million) illegal aliens bill.

The battle today is not between conservatives and liberals, or Republicans and Democrats, or Obama/Hillary and McCain/Romney. It is a battle between Americans and globalists who would erase our borders and sell out our sovereignty!

I know which side of this battle I am on, and it's not the globalists.

So I ask you to (Google and) read Constitution Party presidential candidate Dr. Chuck Baldwin's July 18, "I Am An American!" Print it out, post it on your fridge, discuss it with your friends and then take whatever action you can, using whatever God-given talents that you have, to save this once-great nation from its planned demise in 2010.

Tax cuts for rich don't work

This week, the Bush administration announced the budget deficit for 2009 will be $482 billion, not including approximately $80 billion for the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. That means that the president of the "fiscally conservative GOP" plans to have the government spend about $560 billion that it has to borrow. This is in spite of the myth that cutting taxes increases revenues. This myth is the guiding principle of the GOP today.

Another myth is that Bush's tax cuts for the rich have helped the economy. Economic growth will likely be less than 1 percent for a couple of quarters this year, and the fundamentals of the economy are weak. Is this the type of economic growth we get under "favor the rich, supply-side economics"? The answer is yes.

The next president will inherit a terrible fiscal mess, thanks to Bush. The same thing happened after 12 years of Reagan/Bush, when Clinton, under pressure from Wall Street, balanced the budget. In spite of the crisis, conservative groups insist there be no new taxes. If it is responsible to spend money we don't have, and pass the bills off to future generations, then bravo to the GOP!

Formaldehyde in wood products harmful

I am disappointed you would publish such a poorly written attack on the Sierra Club, our governor, the California Air Resource Board, Maria Shriver, public interests in our forests and forest products ("New law hurts forest-products industry," Jeff Lassle, July 27 Community Forum.) Mr. Lassle seems to be disturbed by legislation aimed at making composite wood products safe for the public. Formaldehyde is used in making some of these products and, as such, poses a hazard to humans exposed to this compound in amounts far in excess of that produced in the human body.

I urge Mr. Lassle to check with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or the National Cancer Institute to familiarize himself with the serious threat this formaldehyde poses to the public.

The Sierra Club is composed of volunteers interested in protecting the public interest, along with the above-mentioned governmental agents, and has no vested interest in products such as illegal drugs. ...

Every man is equal under the law

My recent letter concerning Roman law and gay marriage was responded to by Frank Lancelotti (Letters, July 28). He pointed out an error on my part. As my dad used to say, "When you're wrong, admit it." So on that particular point, I do admit I was wrong.

The core base of the anti-gay marriage crowd is, for the most part, the religious right. Not all of us believe in God, or even the same one. Marriage is a civil (government) matter. As a civil matter, it is defined by the law. The law should not be different for anyone. That would be discrimination, the very point of law used by the California Supreme Court when it found Proposition 22 unconstitutional.

We live in a country of laws –– not one ruled by God. If it were, which God would rule? Jesus, Yahweh, Allah, ShangDi, Ishvara, Buddha, Ganesha, Vishnu (there are hundreds of them)? Your beliefs are not necessarily the same as mine. You have no right to impose your beliefs on anyone. Until we become a nonsecular state like Iran or Saudi Arabia, we remain a country of laws, and every man is equal under the law. Lancelotti can rave on. His support is still dwindling.

Oh yeah, no on Proposition 8.

We're already paying for Tri-City

Did you receive a profit-sharing check from Tri-City hospital? I didn't either. Tri-City is a profitable hospital. It is fine with me that it can do any projects it wants as long as it is willing to spend its own money, not the taxpayers'.

Tri-City forecast that it would be profitable in the coming years again. So stop taxing us! Tri-City is not a taxpayers' hospital, it is everyone's hospital. Taxpayers have no advantages or privileges whatsoever over people from other cities and other countries. Why should we pay a hospital tax when we've already paid for it through our skyrocketing insurance and out-of-pocket costs? Why should we pay for a 40-year bond when we can go to Scripps without any tax obligations?

In case of emergency, it is how fast you can access a doctor, not how fast you can get to Tri-City and wait. Three strikes for the Tri-City bond. No on A.

Tri-City is showing its age

Re: Kathy Lord's letter: Letters, July 28 "Three strikes for Tri-City: No on A," Letters, July 28. Tri-City is not a for-profit business. It is a not-for-profit public hospital, and a superior one at that.

I have been a cardiac patient at Tri-City twice since 1999, and I am convinced that Tri-City's doctors and staff have saved my life twice. Tri-City is definitely showing its age after all these years, and the hospital is in dire need of modernization, upgrading and retrofitting to current earthquake standards, the latter of which is required by law if the facility is to remain open.

Yet I can testify firsthand that, despite all the obstacles, the care one receives at Tri-City is unsurpassed –- highly professional and first-class. The health care system in this country is broken, but this is not Tri-City's fault. ...

One has to understand that, if the hospital district's boundaries are inequitable, these boundaries were set many years ago, and Tri-City's administrators cannot snap their fingers and re-draw them overnight. It could take years to change the district's boundaries, and by then construction costs will inevitably be far higher than they are today. ... We are incredibly fortunate to have this great hospital here in North County. Please vote yes on A.

Regarding DOJ hirings

I cannot believe what I just read ("DOJ: Former aides broke law in hiring scandal," July 29). A president has the right and duty to have people who think like him to run the government. I want him to hire qualified Republican lawyers. I voted for him to do the things he said he would do during the campaign. He needs people to carry out his plans who think like him. Dems do it also! Look at the Clinton administration. They fired everyone in the White House travel office and replaced them with their own people.

Dems hire Dems. Republicans hire Republicans. Look at the Supreme Court. Are the liberals on the court interpreting law to suit me? No. I want conservative judges appointed. The only question that should be raised in any hiring for any government job is, is the person qualified?

"To the victor go the spoils." It has always been so. It will always be so.

He should lose his job, if only he had one

During what he thought was a private conversation with a reporter recently, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said that Barack Obama's recent speeches in black churches "come off as speaking down to black people" and "I want to cut his n–- (testicles) off." This was reported by the Associated Press. What wasn't reported until a week later on CNN Headline News, MSNBC and KFI radio in Los Angeles is that Jackson also said in that conversation that Obama is telling those n––-s how to behave. When first reports of this conversation were released to the press, Jackson quickly got on every TV newscast possible to openly apologize for his words, words that quickly disappeared in the media.

If a white TV/radio personality, I'm thinking of Don Imus, had uttered the n-word, or spoke of cutting a black man's n–- off, Jesse Jackson would have led the charge to the TV news to condemn such a racist attack. Since Jackson's word flubs, many blacks have appeared on TV stations stating that Jackson's apology should be accepted. However, Imus' apology was not accepted and cost him his job on national TV. I almost forgot –– Jackson hasn't a job to lose.

The death of Ronald Reagan in 2004, and Tim Russert and Tony Snow this year, took outstanding citizens who were among the most loyal to the U.S. This loyalty reputation will never be applied to Sen. Kerry, Obama and a dozen other Senate Democrats.

Wesley Clark controversy: Clark was due for advanced pass-over for the second time, thus ending his military service. He lobbied President Clinton, who promoted him and sent him off to NATO. There, he distinguished himself by bombing a civilian train, civilian convoy, Chinese embassy and camouflaged cardboard tanks. U.S. heading down the road to perdition

Good God Almighty, our country is going to hell in a handbasket. Question is, what are you doing about it? Just sitting there and letting it happen. Do you call or write your legislators? If you think you can't do anything by yourself, you're right. So why don't we all get together and let our legislators come to us and apply for a job? They promise us this and that. Sounds good, and we hire them. They get into office, and all of a sudden, they forget who they are.

Just a little reminder from me: All of you legislators are nothing more that public servants. That, by the way, includes President Bush, commander in chief. I can't see how he went from a drunken pilot to commander in chief. I still think he should be impeached, declared a war criminal, given a fair trial and then hang him.

This country is going to hell, and public servants (legislators) are taking us there. They have help from foreign powers, so-called friends. ... Wake up, America!

No more stacked debates

In a column of July 20, Frank Rich did something only he could make up ("The real life '24' of summer 2008"). ... He went over the edge! He and his buddy David Brooks and the others of The New York Times make rationality under the guise of deceit. This is only par for the course. They both use grenade-throwing journalism (they both hit, then run). They never like a public debate in defense of their positions, unless of course, the deck is stacked! ... I suggest that we should have a debate on national television. It would be a huge success, with Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly to balance the forum. What a fearsome foursome. It could be shown on our own Public Broadcasting System. (Please, no pledges!) Two hours of uninterrupted debate, with Dr. Phil as the mediator.

Most of ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC are in the tank for the rich, secular progressives. If their past performance is any indication, I don't think Rich and Brooks would attend. They both would prefer to be with Bush in the "Dark Shadows." But this show would be a lot more interesting than any stacked debate from Obama and McCain.

Cheney, Bush have kept us safe

In a reply to Ira Landis (Letters, July 23); he makes accusations without proof. It is obvious he knows nothing about Vice President Cheney. If he can read or see, he would know Cheney did not out Valerie Plame. Dick Armitage did, and admitted it immediately. Ms. Plame was an analyst at Langley for a few years (where my son worked) and was not covert.

I have been very thankful that President Bush and Vice President Cheney have been in power since 9/11. These are honorable men who have the courage of their convictions. Also, there are papers that contain state secrets and they have kept them safe for seven years and should remain so for the safety of our country. Why don't the Clintons release their papers? That is where, I understand, the scandals are.

And by the way, we have an idle oil-drilling platform off of our coast. I understand China is drilling off our East Coast.

Property owners, please vote no on A

Tri-City Medical Center comes now with another raid on the minority of patients –– property owners. The majority of patients using Tri-City will not pay a dime of the $600 million Measure A proposal. Most patients within, and all who are outside the district, are not property owners affected by this tax increase. Many property owners in Vista and Carlsbad choose not to be in the district, but still use the hospital. Many ballots will go to voters in the district who are not property owners, and they will surely vote 100 percent for the measure –– a freebie to them!

All property owners who want to protect their taxes, or who are stretched by this economy, please vote no. Tell Tri-City Medical Center to submit a fair-to-all proposal.

The $600 million does not cover completion of the hospital. Two new, seven-story towers will be built, but only four floors of each tower are planned to be completed. God save America from change

While reading today's letter by Ruth Larkin (July 27) I thought it must be written by one of the "Peggys." But no, it was written by a Ruth. ...

Ruth Larkin praises Barack Hussein Obama for being exceptionally articulate. What? Obama sounds like a high school dropout when he has no Teleprompter before him. Just listen to his uhs, ohs and double-talk.

It is easy to see the tragic 9/11 event is only a faded memory of Ruth Larkin.

Compare Larkin's letter to the letters on the same page with those written by Irene Edwards and Jim Stuart. These are letters written by two who have not fallen for the left-wing hype of "change." Amazing how some will talk of America being the greatest country in the world and then say they are voting for Obama for "change." God save America from ill-informed, emotional voters.

Ms M wrote on Aug 3, 2008 1:03 AM:GOOD MORNING RON! I have some more of McCain's Flip Flops..great way to start the day. Just a little heads up - more to come - now you have a good day now!

Here goes:

30. In 2005, McCain endorsed intelligent design creationism, a year later he said the opposite, and a few months after that, he was both for and against creationism at the same time.
Economic Policy
31. McCain was against Bush's tax cuts for the very wealthy before he was for them.
32. John McCain initially argued that economics is not an area of expertise for him, saying, "I'm going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues; I still need to be educated," and "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should." He now falsely denies ever having made these remarks and insists that he has a "very strong" understanding of economics.
33. McCain vowed, if elected, to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term. Soon after, he decided he would no longer even try to reach that goal. And soon after that, McCain abandoned his second position and went back to his first.
34. McCain said in 2005 that he opposed the tax cuts because they were "too tilted to the wealthy." By 2007, he denied ever having said this, and falsely argued that he opposed the cuts because of increased government spending.
35. McCain thought the estate tax was perfectly fair. Now he believes the opposite.
36. McCain pledged in February 2008 that he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Specifically, McCain was asked if he is a "'read my lips' candidate, no new taxes, no matter what?" referring to George H.W. Bush's 1988 pledge. "No new taxes," McCain responded. Two weeks later, McCain said, "I'm not making a 'read my lips' statement, in that I will not raise taxes."
37. McCain has changed his entire economic worldview on multiple occasions.
38. McCain believes Americans are both better and worse off economically than they were before Bush took office.
Energy Policy
39. McCain supported the moratorium on coastal drilling; now he's against it.

I pretty much disagree with that. I've used Tri City Hospital twice in the last 2 months. Once for 4 hours and once for 3 hours. The bills totalled over $27,000, not including my doctors fees. That's almost $4,000 an hour. How much more do you want? In fact you probably sit back and cheer when a bottom feeding lawyer sues the hospital and gets some outrageous settlement, and know you wonder why they need a bond issue.

One thing I despise, and NO.. that is not too strong a word, is class-warfare as practised by Liberals inside Democrat party.
Instead of educating Americans to be the absolute best they can be, they always go to this tactic of "see what your neighbor has" stuff, all the while, insisting your neighbor stole from you, and they are the only people to steal it back.

Regardless of the mindless talking points today by Paul Cavanaugh. Tax cuts DO work, and this is how I know they work. Stimulus checks.
The Government gave Americans money to stimulate the economy. Why? Cause they know more money in your hands stimulates our economy. And the Liberal Democrats proved they understand this principal, more money in your hand, drives this economy.
So, the obvious question is, Why not more tax cuts? More stimulation, right?
Ahh, but there, you see...
Then THEY will not be in the position of getting credit, which is THE most important thing to them. Getting the credit is what drives Liberals.
It's all a part of this "feel good" mentality, I've been talking about.

In fact, did I not mention this thing the otherday? Yes.. I think I did.
Mascot politics. Mascot politics is when your choice is meant to say much, much more about YOU, than about the choice itself. Now, what am I talking about. Barack Obama.

It is a well known fact, as stated by Obama himself, that many Liberals.. let me correct that.. WHITE Liberals... let me correct that... GUILTY WHITE Liberals will be voting this year for Barack Obama, because THEY want absolution from their guilt.
The question has to asked. Are you voting for Barack Obama because his election will free you from your white guilt? Because, if so, then that says far, far more about YOU, than it ever does about him.
To understand the Liberal mind, you must first understand that they do nothing, NOTHING that does not give themselves credit. Economically, they do the exact same thing. They will give only certain classes tax cuts they feel are worthy, thus only partially stimulating the economy. Just think if they would cut Government, and cut the taxes supporting the Government Industrial Complex? Think of how much stimulation our economy would have?
Across the board stimulation, but...
then they could also get credit!

The political cartoon (column?) by Tom Meyer in the San Francisco Chronicle for today, 8-3, is interesting, especially if true.
And it points out what is wrong with a system whereby oil pumped out of American soil is not necessarily used to benefit the American People as a whole.
If you wonder why gasoline is less expensive in Tijuana, you need look no further than to see what the brand name is, PEMEX. Mexican oil sold to Mexicans FIRST and to the rest of the world SECOND, AFTER the needs of their country are met.
Not free market of me?
Not Libertarian of me?
I do not say that we should change the way we operate.
I do not say that we should have yet another bloated government department.
I do say that what we are doing, right now, with respect to oil is not working.
I do say that giving more land, be it on dry land or off-shore, to companies who are already setting United States ALL-TIME records for profit, so that they can sell United States oil to someone else FIRST, or to the highest bidder FIRST, is not in the best interest of this country.
I do say that it is past time to set our priorities to be Our Country First and Foremost with respect to our natural resources.
And to make the best uses of those resources.

Ron wrote on Aug 3, 2008 9:37 AM:And in my continuing series of articles about how WRONG Paul Cavanaugh is, and he is spouting the talking points.
Let me, as I always do.. cut to the chase here? Shall we?

Now, it is said...
by Paul that: "the Bush administration announced the budget deficit for 2009 will be $482 billion"

That's right Paul, they ANNOUNCED it.
Congess authorized the deficit spending. that's right, Paul, they said it was OK. Okie-Dokie.
Bush didn't spend it all by his lonesome, unless he was given the authorization by the CONGRESS. A Democrat Congress, no less.
Do we need a quick civics lesson here, I think we do? The President PROPOSES, the CONGRESS DISPOSES. Congress authorizes the deficit spending.

Second point...
$80 billion supplements Iraq and Afghanistan. Again, Congress authorizes the spending first. The President must ask, beg, plead his case. Congress has complete control over the money, in fact, all spending & taxation must be generated in the House of Representatives, because that's what the Constitution says.

And I do disagree with him in his wide swipe at the "fiscally conservative GOP." As we have seen, GWB is NO conservative on spending, never has been. I would, again.. Remind my Liberal friends, that early on in this administration, Bush worked with Ted Kennedy on the new Medi-Care drug benefit, expanding entitlements, against every last conservative who said it was a budget breaker. We did not have the votes to stop it.
And that ONLY complaint by Liberals was, it did not go FAR ENOUGH. they wanted a BIGGER PLAN.

As to the $560 billion that our government has to borrowed. The budget clearly shows, that half (1/2) of that money is currently being spent to support failing entitlements, like Medi-Care, which is currently running negative.

Ron wrote on Aug 3, 2008 9:58 AM:In an on-going effort to fight this massive disinformation put out today by Paul Cavanaugh. the only way to fight dis-information, is to replace it with truth.

Paul calls: it a "myth that cutting taxes increases revenues."
No better example exists as to how this works, is a recent panic over the Highway Trust Fund. Now, the Government, as lead by Liberal's said Americans needed to cut back on using gas. Well, what happened? Tax revenues dropped, creating excitement inside the Government Industrial Complex that they would not have enough money. Liberal Democrats already have a plan for this, another fuel tax. Spending is THE issue, not taxation. Always has been THE issue. Right now in California, despite record revenues to the State Government during the housing bubble, the State still ran a deficit. Why?
Because spending ALWAYS exceeds the income. How do you and I handle reductions in income? Well, usually we cut back. Some will get a second job, depending on the serverity of the shortfall. But, most of us don't rush out and buy a new Prius. Even though, that is now the new patriotism.

Another myth by Paul is that the Bush's tax cuts were only for the rich.
Bush lowered, or I should say, Congress lowered everyone's taxes.
The Republican Congress also lowered the lowest tier of tax rates, from 15%of the Bill Clinton's years, to 10%. I'd say, Bush was looking out for "the little guy."

He mentions: supply-side economics.
Let me ask you. when you look at your own paystub, After the government get's it's skim, do you have a supply-side problem? The answer is yes. Your doing ALL the right things, your working, showing up everyday, working hard, trying to support your family.
And after the government is done with YOUR paycheck, do they leave you enough supply?

I do agree with him, though. On this one point, The next president will inherit a terrible fiscal mess.
And you can blame anyone you like,
Bush if it makes you feel better.
Notice, I have not mentioned these current proposals, ALL BY DEMOCRATS, to spend your hard earned money?
Mortgage bailout, to name only one.
ALL unpaid for. Well, our kid's will, eventually.
But seriously. It's the SIZE of this government that is sinking this ship, not that Americans aren't paying their fair share. Afterall, do you get a choice? No, the government get's their take, before you even see your paycheck.

In the case in point, an illegal alien in Florida was hospitalized after an automobile accident and after his treatment at taxpayer expense, the hospital could not find a rehab center that would take a patient without insurance.

The hospital was forced to keep the patient in the hospital – but after $1.5 million in costs, the hospital decided to cut its losses by spending $30,000 on an ambulance to return the patient to his hometown in Guatemala.

Activists are suing over the issue of hospitals sending illegal aliens back to their home, without going through “due process.”.

Since I can't find an article on which to blog this subject, is it possible to get a dialog going on this blog?

Tax Policy wrote on Aug 3, 2008 10:45 AM:Interesting analysis in the WSJ this morning. The analysis is that the US lost Budweiser to Europeans (Belgians) because the European effective corporate tax rate is approximately half that of the US, and if Obama wins as Europe expects and US corporate America fears, Obama will raise that corporate tax rate still further. (Tax Foundation’s analysis: Anheuser-Busch was paying 38,4%, InBev pays 20%).

(Obama has promised to raise corporate taxes, McCain has promised to cut corporate taxes.)

In terms of simple financial strength, Budweiser should have bought InBev, but that would have raised InBevs corporate taxes while this way there is a huge swing in lower government cost for the combination of the two corporations. Huge!

Tax consequences have a huge effect on business, making them do things that otherwise do not make economic sense.

With the combination of tax policy and a weak dollar, there is more to come.

Something other than Spanish and English SHOULD be taught!!!

The school SHOULD provide the second semester of German!!!

NOT that you should HAVE to do the following ideas, but it might be of help to you, your brother and other students:

1) Begin a petition for students and adults to bring German, etc, back.
This may take a while.

2) In the interim, maybe your brother can take German and woodshop at Mira Costa.

3) Try the Rosetta Stone. NASA, the Department of Defense, etc use it to teach their people foreign languages.

Your family SHOULD NOT have to pay out of pocket for these classes; however, there is no other choice available that I can see right now.

The next generation will be a bunch of Spanish-speaking nano-geeks because no other language was offered and the trades were taken out of the schools.

PS...I get upset because I HAVE to know Spanish just to get around our community.

But, then yesterday, I am reminded of why I want to learn it, there was a lady whose English was very broken but she was trying DESPERATELY hard to speak English.

So, I am taking Spanish because of the example above.

Additionally, I'm taking Italian because I want to and it is most beautiful language I ever heard.

I may go crazy trying to learn two at once, but c'est la vie.

But, it seems to me, all this talk about the Government "caring about you", "knowing you", and "saving you", has gotten a bunch of people, like Robert, thinking.. and looking towards Washington & Sacramento for their own salvation.
Fearing the Central Government goes as far back as the founding of the Republic. If you read the great writings of these men, all were solid on the idea of "government as a necessary evil." Limited Government is what they gave us, and we... their decendants decided they really didn't know anything, and we, like all youth's, tried to improve on it.
Much to our own peril.

"It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man who knows what the law is today can guess what is will be tomorrow."

The principals they laid down are still true today, we have strayed. Cause we think WE know better. Like all children, until they grow up.

Within a week of each other the Court ruled that detainees at illegal prisons like Guantanamo had the right of habeas corpus
AND
that the 2nd Amendment confers to individual Citizens the RIGHT to keep firearms, specifically handguns, in their homes.
Those decisions SEEM to be polar opposites when looked at from a Liberal versus Conservative perspective.

Even if it should come to pass, and "poor" people are the only ones getting the allowance, it makes me think that Ron should not have a problem with this.

Afterall, I--and probably Ron, based on all his hyperbole on this status in the business sector--didn't get GW's tax rebate this check this year because we make too much...so obviously, the Bush administration the money only to "poor" people.

Obamaman will take my retired parent's money, and give it away.
Yes, I can say, with complete confidence that what the Obamaman proposes to do is to take hard working people's money, who for their whole life, paid into a system, that the government later changed the rules.
People, who paid their whole life, expecting a certain return, but were told later, you did TOO WELL.

So, being the smart people that they are, they find another way to offset what the Government has taken.
They invest their own savings into some stocks, and offset what the Government took.

So, they are making some money of offset what the Government first said they'd pay, then later changed the rules. And now.. the Obamaman & you think they should AGAIN be punished, for doing the right thing. Saving for their own retirements.

Moral of the story, ladies & gentlemen is: Don't save. Don't plan. Don't..
