CARLSBAD ---- Carlsbad State Beach was closed to swimmers Sunday after a sewage spill the day before, according to officials.
Signs warning against swimming were posted from Palomar Airport Road to the breakwater, according to an Internet announcement from the county's department of environmental health.
Swimming would be permitted once test showed bacteria level in the water had returned to a safe level, the report said.
The report said the spill occurred Saturday evening, but no additional details were given. County officials could not be reached for comment.

When noticing this I talked with a lifeguard and he said the water was filthy. There were hundreds of people in the water and the lifeguards did not appear to make any effort to give swimmers and sufers any warnings. The warning signs were much to small and too few to be noticed. I only hope that my children and others enjoying the ocean yesterday do not contract any infectious diseases.
