Art association membership show set

FALLBROOK ---- The Fallbrook Art Association Membership Show of Fine Art will be held Aug. 29-Sept. 7 at the Fallbrook Art Center, 103 S. Main St.

This is a non-juried show. A reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 29. Art from association members will be featured in oil and acrylic, watermedia, drawing and pastel, mixed media and fiber art, photography, sculpture, printmaking and computer-generated.

Entries from members will be accepted from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 25. Nonmembers may join and submit their work at this time. Each artist may submit up to two entries. Entry fee is $10 for one piece or $15 for two pieces. Ribbons and certificates for the categories described above will be awarded. Teacher and artist Nancy Livesay from San Diego will serve as judge. She holds a bachelor's degree in art education and a master's degree in fine art. Daily show hours will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

AARP driving class offered

FALLBROOK ---- The Fallbrook Senior Center will offer the AARP Safe Driving Program at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 2 and 16 at the center at 399 Heald Lane. There is a $10 fee, payable on registration. Call (760) 728-4498 to secure a place in the class. Make the check out to AARP. Completion of the class allows for a reduction in one's automobile insurance premium.

Business seminar set for Aug. 18

FALLBROOK ---- A free business seminar offering advice on keeping one's business alive and well will take place from 9-10 a.m. Aug. 18 at the Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Lane. The seminar is sponsored by Roll Design of Fallbrook and serves the following industries: manufacturing, retail, service and distribution.

Topics will include survival tactics during slow markets, business plans, preserving cash flow, lease and purchase negotiations, employee accountability programs, selling and marketing products, risk management, customer service, receptionist training and conducting employment and management meetings.
