VISTA ---- A woman jumped from a second-story apartment window early Sunday morning in an attempt to escape her abusive husband, sheriff's officials said.

At about 1:20 a.m., deputies were called to the 500 block of North Citrus Avenue, where a woman was screaming for help, Sgt. Nelson Prosper said.

Deputies arrived to find a badly injured woman whose identity has not been released, Prosper said.

The woman told deputies that when she arrived home that night, her husband confronted her, accusing her of infidelity, Prosper said.

The husband began hitting her with a wine bottle and, after she fell, continued to hit and kick her until she jumped from the window, Prosper said.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment, he said. No additional information was available about her condition.

Detectives were looking for the woman's husband Sunday, Prosper said.

This is so wrote on Aug 18, 2008 2:09 PM:not funny, what is the husbands name? Don't you think he might have friends who know where he is? Or maybe just better to keep it quiet and let the woman return home and hope hubbys not waiting?
