CAMP PENDLETON ---- A Temecula man died Tuesday after crashing his motorcycle on El Camino Real North on Camp Pendleton near the county line, officials said.

Timothy Douglas Curl, 43, was alone on a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle at about 4:30 p.m. when he lost control of the bike, officials said.

Curl mounted the eastbound curb and was thrown from the motorcycle from the Orange County side to the San Diego County side, officials said.

Curl was helmeted, but suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

He is survived by his wife.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department is investigating the motorcycle crash. The San Diego County medical examiner scheduled an autopsy for Wednesday.

Friend wrote on Aug 21, 2008 8:03 PM:It is sad to think that Tim is no longer a part of our world. A man that has shown such loyalty and honor to his family, friends, and his country.
To be taken from all of us dosen't seem fair. I know that he was chosen for some bigger task that we don't get to understand in this lifetime. A man of this stature must have a higher purpose. Hopefully some day we will better understand.
I will wish my condolences to the family, bless you all.

He was the best son, and friend that a mother could have. My heart goes out to Beth and Tim's children. I will always hold Tim close to my heart. Love, Uncle ...

natasha wrote on Aug 22, 2008 7:46 PM:I never really met Tim, well not that I remember. But I think it's so unfair that something like this could happen to someone I've only heard great things about. I have heard so many things about him, and not one of them have been anything but good. I'm upset that I never really got to know Tim, and I feel for everyone close to him.
