Greg in Oceanside wrote on Aug 25, 2008 9:02 PM:I have several topics for discussion:

1.) The Latino gang problem and all the rampant crime and violence that is affecting our quality of life.

2.) The enormous problem with illegal immigrants in our communities, particularly in our schools, where API scores are abysmal.

3.) The over 50 % drop out rate, where less than half of Latino young men graduate.

4.) The problem with illegal aliens, who don't have drivers licenses or insurance, who have the propensity to leave the scene of an accident.

5.) The downward trend of the API scores in our predominately Latino schools.

6.) The burdens put on our healthcare system and the deluge of illegal aliens who clog up our emergency rooms.

7.) The disproportionate amount of crime being committed by Latinos.

8.) The billions of dollars taken out of ciculation from our economy and sent to Mexico in the form of remittances.

I can go on and on, but we need to address these issues if we're going to progress as a country instead of turn into another third world country.

Can anyone else think of some topics for discussion?

Skip wrote on Aug 26, 2008 5:05 AM:I just don't get it. If these roundtables are open to anyone, then why are they called Latino Roundtables. I find this to be very racist, but hey I am white and there are no such liberties for us like this.

How about wrote on Aug 26, 2008 5:13 AM:How about a round table for combating illegal immigration and exposing it's detrimental effect on California's economy, environment, and culture that requires following the law.

toGreg in oceanside wrote on Aug 26, 2008 6:16 AM:Reports are already out in Mexico that the large number, 1.3million, of illegal immigrants returning home could drive down wages and put pressure on social services — the same concerns many Americans have with illegals living and working in the U.S.

We want a round table wrote on Aug 26, 2008 2:25 PM:for nudist where we bare all.

Gary wrote on Aug 26, 2008 8:17 PM:I want a Northern European Roundtable and I suggest that the main topics of the Latino Roundtable be:

1. Assimilation
2. English as our primary language

LMAO wrote on Aug 27, 2008 2:49 AM:These comments are hilarious. It's hard to take some of them seriously, though, when I look at the disparity between Latinos´ share of the US population (about 15 percent) and the percentage of congressional representatives who are Latino (6 or 7 percent). I am in favor of much tougher immigration laws, but you hicks need to please quit whining that white people are victims of discrimination. Pretty much every meeting that ever takes place in the US is a Northern European Roundtable.

jvc wrote on Aug 27, 2008 5:33 AM:We should make-up our minds, do we want cheap labor or not? These people are here because WE give them jobs first and foremost! If we can spend ten billion a month in Iraq, we can spend several billion a year to pay these people to stay home and provide them with jobs at home, jobs that could offer us goods and services to export here! Where would we get the money to
subsidize these jobs... borrow from China and continue with deficit spending that is the common practice today! And, since it is the common belief that these people are costing us billions by being here then use it to provide jobs for them at home...I sure would rather live at home with a job than to travel across the border! On
another matter, when is the NCT going to provide a Euro-American Roundtable or just

LMAO is right wrote on Aug 27, 2008 11:16 AM:and it's called the Latino roundtable because they're discussing LATINOS and everyone's input and discussion topics have been welcomed(did you all not read the article???)

seems like everyone just read the headline and started babbling away.

if you did something about it as much as you all complain, we'd be out of this problem.
