At a glance: With QB Tyler Bernard, WR James Johnson, FB Stanton Upson and TE Jeremy Dozier back, Valley Center has plenty of experience on the offensive side. Plus, the defending CIF San Diego Section Division IV champions return five defensive starters. But the Jaguars are inexperienced on the lines. ... San Pasqual figures to throw the ball more this season with QB Eric Bowcock at the helm. But FB Joel Jernigan, who scored 18 TDs last season, is back. The Eagles return only one starter on defense.

Seale has already been offered a scholarship to Stanford. On defense, the Cougars return six starters and shift to a 4-3 scheme. LB Evan Langston is the anchor.

At a glance: The Flyers have a new coach and a new offensive system that has worked the past two weeks as they have scored 56 points in their first two games. â€- QB Mike Sharp was 14-for-26 for 210 yards and one TD in Dixie's last win, a 35-21 victory over Las Vegas Cimarron Memorial. RB Dallen Reber has scored five of Dixie’s TDs, followed by RB Ian Gatchell, who has two. â€- For La Costa Canyon, WR Kenny Stills caught 27 catches for 583 yards and 7 TDs last year. RB Seth Hanson returns after rushing for 310 yards on 55 carries. He also caught 16 passes for 263 yards. â€- MLB Jacob Driver, LB Dutch Hapgood, SS Karl Nelson, FS Michael Mildbrandt and DE Michael Kaiser will power the defense.

RB Nick Ricciardulli, who rushed for 1,506 yards and 21 TDs as a junior. â€- Sophomore DB Brett Thomas returns to anchor the secondary. â€-Scripps Ranch, coming off an 8-3 season, returns one of the top QBs in the section in Michigan-bound Robert “Tate” Forcier. The senior passed for 2,178 yards last season, completing 67 percent of his passes. This year, Forcier has a big target in Fallbrook transfer J.T. Kerr at TE, who caught six passes for 83 yards and one touchdown for the Warriors. Also returning is RB Brennan Clay, who rushed for 369 yards and scored three times as a sophomore. Clay also caught 17 passes for 301 yards.

On the other side of the line is 6 foot 5, 290 pound Alex Crosthwaite. â€- Steele Canyon also has size on the offensive line, with Zakary Butts standing 6-foot-5 and 326 pounds and Ben Kauffman at 6-6, 317. â€- Running the ball for the Cougars will be RB Joey Leos, along with WR/RB Jebari Robinson. LB Joe Morgan will lead the defense.

At a glance: The Sundevils return seven players from a defense that allowed less than 20 points per game. â€- Four returners are LBs Mike Nelson, Garret Fritch, Robbie Hans and the leader, Reggie Noble. Noble will also see time at TE. â€- At QB, the Sundevils will use Marcus Strauss, who threw one pass last year. At RB, Shayne Khalil will be the feature back. Last year, the senior rushed for 172 yards on only 45 carries. â€- In its first varsity season last year, Heritage went 7-4 and made the playoffs. â€- The Patriots feature a lot of depth and a very strong group of LBs. Players to watch are WR Alex Rachal, WR Bryce Walters, RB/LB Anthony Jackson, RB/DB Garrett Christiansen, RB/LB Garrett Hansen, LB Kyle Wells, LB Matt Enos, and LB Diallo Lawson.
