VISTA: Eagles Peak hires new leader

VISTA ---- Eagles Peak Charter School will have a new temporary leader starting next week.

The school's board of directors voted Tuesday to hire Don Haught as interim deputy director to replace Art Townley, who's leaving after three months in the temporary post.

School officials have said they hope to hire a permanent leader within the next several months.

Haught has been a school administrator in San Diego County for years, serving as superintendent of the Ramona City Unified School District and deputy superintendent of the Poway Unified School District.

After retiring, he served as an interim administrator at the San Marcos Unified Grossmont High School and Mountain Empire school districts.

Townley took over the Vista-based charter school for the second time in May after the board fired its director, Rich Alderson. Townley had worked as interim director in 2006, after the board parted ways with Kathleen Hermsmeyer.

The eight-year-old charter school has learning centers in San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties. It cater to parents who mostly home-school their children.

Enrollment is growing and programs are doing well. Most parents are even aware of the politics. I can also imagine you are both employees, or ex-employees. Do the right thing....move on. Or give us concrete information, not just drama.

You know what the first three letters of ASSuming spells and that's what you are for thinking (at least for me) that I am some disguntle ex/current employee. I don't need to point out facts here when it is well documented elsewhere that EP is a horribly managed school. Go do the right thing and research the facts.
