Oceana to hold ballroom dance
OCEANSIDE ---- Oceana will hold a ballroom dance featuring music by The Vidals from 7-9:15 p.m. Sept. 20 at 550 Vista Bella. The dance will feature finger foods and refreshments. Harbor Days set for Sept. 20, 21
OCEANSIDE ---- Oceanside Harbor Days will be held Sept. 20 and 21 at the Oceanside Harbor. The event will feature arts and craft exhibits, food and activities for the entire family, including Pirates Plunder at the Harbor exhibition, historical tall ships at battle, children's area, Nail 'n' Sail Competition, military, police and fire displays, and more. The Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis Club will hold a fundraiser in the teachers' parking lot at Oceanside High School, 1 Pirates Cove Way. Cost for an entire day of parking is $10 and includes vans to take people to Harbor Days and back from 7:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. both days.
GoldWing riders to meet
OCEANSIDE ---- The GoldWing Road Riders Association chapter Ca1N will meet at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at Grandma's Hill Top Hide-A-Way Cafe, 539 Vista Bella. American GI Forum holds Mariachi Concert
OCEANSIDE ---- The American GI Forum Oceanside Chapter will sponsor the biannual Dinner and Mariachi Concert scholarship fundraiser at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, 1290 Ivey Ranch Road.

Las Flores Adobe open

Teen dating and health event set
OCEANSIDE ---- As part of its Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Program, the Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside will host an event at 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at 401 Country Club Lane. Guest speaker will be Melissa Cappadona, education and outreach coordinator from the Community Resource Center in Encinitas, who will discuss "Teen Dating and Health Relationships" with club members. Cappadona travels to middle schools, high schools businesses, churches and other organizations throughout North County to give presentations on nonviolence education.

Basketball club takes registrations
VISTA ---- The Flow Basketball Club is registering players for the fall/winter season from 6:30-8 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and alternating Fridays and Saturdays at Rancho Buena Vista High School Gymnasium, 1601 Longhorn Drive. City to host cleanup at Tamarack Beach
CARLSBAD ---- The city of Carlsbad's Recreation Department is encouraging volunteers to pitch in and clean Tamarack Beach as well as Agua Hedionda Lagoon during California Coastal Cleanup Day from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 20. Chalk art hits the street this weekend
CARLSBAD ---- ArtSplash, the two-day community chalk art event and silent auction, will be held from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 20-21 on Armada Drive, between Cannon Road and Palomar Airport Road, above the Flower Fields. The event will feature art exhibitions, a family art carnival, sand sculpture, cheese carving, the Fern Street Circus, music by Hullabalooband, 40 Proof Band, face painting, jugglers and other street entertainers. Kayaks to cleanup at Batiquitos Lagoon
CARLSBAD ---- The Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation will host the third annual Kayak Cleanup Sept. 20-21 at the Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center, 7380 Gabbiano Lane. The first launch is scheduled for 7 a.m. and the last launch is at 4 p.m. both days. The event allows kayakers access to the lagoon, normally closed to boating, and simultaneously helps preserve the lagoon habitat. Volunteers may bring their own kayaks or use kayaks and safety equipment provided by the event sponsors: Hobie Corporation will sponsor Saturday's cleanup and will donate a Tandem Odyssey Kayak for the fundraising raffle; REI Outdoor School will host Sunday's cleanup efforts and will donate three full-day outdoor school classes for the raffle.
Each group will be accompanied by guides who will take parties to areas of interest and also provide help if needed. Cost is $30 per person and can be used as a tax-deductible donation to BLF. www.batiquitosfoundation.org.
Candlelight peace vigil set

Cleanup Day in Del Mar

City to host 'Fit' festival
ENCINITAS ---- The city of Encinitas' second annual Feeling Fit Festival will be held from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 21 at Leo Mullen Sports Park, 951 Via Cantebria. The free event will offer a variety of drop-in activities for all ages, including a 30-foot rock wall, guided trail hikes, sports clinics and games, fitness class demos, jump houses for different age groups and bungee trampolines.
