RAMONA----The westbound lane of Montecito Road was closed Friday morning after a pickup truck sheared off a fire hydrant and knocked over a utility pole, authorities said.
The crash was a reported at 8:04 a.m. near Kalbaugh Street, according to the California Highway Patrol's Web site. A witness reported that a blue truck left the scene after hitting the hydrant and utility pole.
The downed pole and a geyser from the sheared hydrant forced the lane closure, a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection dispatcher said.
