VISTA: Dryer catches fire in crowded house; no injuries
By North County Times | ∞
VISTA ---- An outside clothes dryer caught fire with five people in the house Monday night, but all escaped safely and the damage to the house was minimal, said fire Capt. Ned Vander Pol.
The fire was reported at 5:18 p.m. in the 400 block of North Melrose Drive, Vander Pol said. The dryer, just behind the house, caught fire for unknown reasons. The five people inside the house evacuated quickly and no injuries were reported, he said.
Firefighters put out the fire before it spread inside, Vander Pol said. However, the house did sustain some smoke damage, he said. No damage estimate was available.

crowded wrote on Oct 8, 2008 7:23 AM:Ever occur to you that the house may be small, maybe 2 bedrooms or something like that? That would end up being crowded with five people, thus they have to put the dryer outside 'cause their's no room in the house.
Are You Kidding Me wrote on Oct 9, 2008 9:11 AM:NCT, your headline says "Dryer catches fire in crowded house..." and your article says "An outside clothes dryer..."
Come on, guys! If your writers cannot be clear on a simple story such as this, how are readers to have confidence in your reporting of bigger issues?
And since when is a house occupied by 5 people crowded? Five in a one bedroom apartment is crowded, but a house? If your article doesn't say how many bedrooms the house has, we're just supposed to trust that it's crowded? In that area I can't see where there would be a one bedroom house.
