OCEANSIDE: School board to hear budget update

By North County Times | Friday, October 10, 2008 5:11 PM PDT

OCEANSIDE ---- School officials will present a budget update at the Oceanside Unified School District's board meeting Tuesday.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the district office, 2111 Mission Ave.

The school board passed a $168 million budget in June. However, that budget will need to be updated now that the state has passed its budget. Most of the district's funding comes from the state.

Also, the district will get more money than originally planned because it saw an unexpected growth in enrollment this year.

The district has hired back nearly all of the teachers who were given layoff notices during budget cuts earlier in the year.

about $8,500 per student!
