CARLSBAD: 19-year-old Carlsbad woman fatally injured in crash

By North County Times | Saturday, October 11, 2008 3:54 PM PDT

CARLSBAD ---- A 19-year-old driver was fatally injured and several passengers were hurt when a newspaper delivery truck hit their car Friday night, authorities said.

Thesa Graves died Saturday morning at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, according to the county medical examiner's office. She lived in Carlsbad with her parents.

The teenager was driving the car carrying three others when she ran a red light at the intersection of El Camino Real and Carlsbad Village Drive and was hit by the Wall Street Journal delivery truck about 10 p.m., Lt. Don Rawson said. Graves was taken by helicopter to the hospital's trauma center but succumbed to her injuries a few hours later, he said.

At least two other ambulances carried patients, one to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego and one to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, an emergency dispatcher said. The patients were at least two of the car's passengers, Carlsbad police Sgt. Steve Sutt said.

As you can see we all miss you already. Please everyone remember to pray for her and her family along with the other people in the car. They are still there and need all the help we can give them. God bless.

I pray for her in heaven. I pray for Samantha in the hospital. Of course, I pray for the family grieving... much, much love for my dear friend, Kelsey! I'm sure your sister is smiling down on you from heaven-- no matter the differences you had as siblings. Love -JOdie

FTM wrote on Oct 18, 2008 7:54 AM:No, there was no DUI involved here. We have all ran a light before, often it happens by accident. I did it once because I had a car load of people and I was distracted - the people in the car told me "hey - you just ran a red light!". I was lucky, but I could have hit a truck too.

This is a really sad story and every teenager goed through driving problems. It really hurts when you hear about one so young.

The STUPID NCT's is running story ater story about some homeless guy who ran into the street on 76 but I think the story of this teenager is much more important because there are so many more teenagers out there we need to save that this is going to happen to in the future.

No thanks to NCT for burying this story.
A lot more meaning and good can be accomplished if this were made known to more of the youth in North County.
