KOCT annual fundraiser set at Outback

OCEANSIDE ---- The annual fundraiser luncheon for KOCT-TV will be held Nov. 8 at the Outback Steakhouse, 2485 Vista Way. There will be two seatings, at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Funds raised will support KOCT's student intern program. Tickets are $20 adults; $10 children age 10 and under. Church to hold Arts & Crafts Festival

League of Women Voters to meet

Sea Lions to hold fundraiser

CAMP PENDLETON ---- Oceanside Sea Lions Club will hold its first "Winter in Paradise" Luau Fundraiser from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Abby Reinke Community Center aboard Camp Pendleton. MiraCosta employee is 'Latina of the Year'

OCEANSIDE ---- MiraCosta College Student Employment Coordinator Lisa Montes was recently recognized as "Latina of the Year" in the Education Category of the San Diego North County Latinas Association and Cal State San Marcos.

Montes serves on the board of Encuentros, a community organization dedicated to helping local school districts retain and graduate a higher percentage of Latino boys. As vice president of community programs, she is in charge of the annual Educational and Career Exploration Conference, which allows 600 middle and high school students the opportunity to explore college and career options. Montes was selected for the award for her work on the Encuentros conference and the impact she has made in thousands of young men's lives since the first conference was held five years ago.

Boy Scouts hold Court of Honor

OCEANSIDE ---- Boy Scout Troop 752 held its quarterly Court of Honor recently. Paul Brown earned the rank of Eagle, the highest rank in Scouting. Raydell Gay and Brenton Baker achieved the Life rank, which is one step below Eagle. Nick Winicki and Daniel Matienzo became Star Scouts. Robert Geshay earned the Second Class rank.

Peter Vo and Joseph Madril earned the World Conservation Award. Sam Bockman earned the Tot 'n Chip. Paul Brown earned the Paul Bunyan award. The Mile Swim award was presented to David Wilson, Gregory Wilson, Nick Winicki, James Tally, David Felien and Paul Brown. Assistant Scoutmaster Tuyet-May Vo completed High Adventure and Trek Safely training. In addition, 93 merit badges were awarded to 29 Scouts.

Museum to host Family Activity Day

-- 6 p.m., Resounding Joy will discuss the history, practice and techniques involved in music therapy and show how it can apply to daily life.

-- 8 p.m., Diane Mandle will conduct a Sound Healing program using precision tuned Tibetan bowls, planetary gongs, bells and other instruments. Learn about the history of these ancient instruments and discover their soothing qualities.

Learn to make lavender sachets

Theater showcase to raise funds for autism

ENCINITAS ---- Positive Action Community Theater will present a showcase based on its Goldmine Expressive Arts Workshops for children with autism spectrum disorder at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at Dance North County, 535 Encinitas Blvd., Suite 100. LaCosta Canyon student is Eagle Scout

ENCINITAS ---- La Costa Canyon High School sophomore Dallin Stanford Broberg of Varsity Team 730 of the San Diego Imperial Council recently received his Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor. He is the son of Todd and Jill Broberg of Encinitas. Dallin received the highest rank in Scouting after fulfilling all the merit badge, skill, service and leadership requirements. For his Eagle project, he installed a kiosk and fencing along a habitat preserve trail above Box Canyon.

Daughters of Union Vets to meet
