VISTA ---- The competitors in the Hospice of the North Coast eighth annual golf tournament on Oct. 13 ended their day of play in the Shadowridge Country Club's windowed dining room overlooking the course. About 40 guests joined the 104 tournament players at the dinner.Â
The golfers and guests enjoyed a silent auction and a live auction featuring unique prizes. Scott Pieratt, tournament chairman, served as emcee and auctioneer as the golfers relaxed, caught their breath and decided what they most wanted to take home with them.Â
"After everything was said and done, we were able to net, after expenses, over $54,000 this year," for Hospice of the North Coast, said Pieratt. "This is an all-time high, as was last year at $52,000."
CEO Jack Good of Good & Roberts General Contractors sprang for the big auction item, a flag from this year's U.S. Open at Torrey Pines signed by Phil Michelson, V.J. Singh and Padrig Harrington.
There was also a set of airplane tickets and two seats at a "Gypsy" performance with Patti LuPone on Broadway that brought in $800.
The golfers who took home trophies were, in the Low Gross position, Earl Atishuler, Doug Cole, Eric Ziebold and Tim Klein. The Low Net winners were Jim Edwards, Ryan Simpson, Bill Harford, and Dr. Terry Lepper.
Hospice of the North Coast, based in Carlsbad, has been serving coastal North San Diego County for more than a quarter of a century.
The title sponsor of the event was Good & Robert, Inc. The Diamond Sponsor was WSP Corporate Benefits.
Hole-In-One Sponsors were Pacific Honda and Pacific Golf Cars.
The committee members that made the event possible besides Pieratt, were Susan Parker-Overstreet, Jack Good, Tom and Judy Cattell, Karen Hadley, Bernie and Mary Beth Kolanowski, Sandi Roe and Beth Vigland.
Volunteers at the event were Clarice Bednarz, Sharlene Beltran, Pamela Harrison, Bonnie Hennigar, Lee Lady, Nancy and Roger Moore, Jean Newmyer, Joan Orosco, Sandi Roe, Marion Rose, Sondra Rose and Fran Samhammer.
Debbie Pieratt and Mary Ann Ford made the table centerpieces, pumpkins filled with fall flowers, which were sold at the end of the evening for $10. Meredth Pieratt handled the publicity from New York and obtained the "Gypsy" tickets.
