REGION: Rain falls inland

Temps to increase daily the rest of this week

NORTH COUNTY ---- Sunday's sporadic rain landed mostly in North County, according to the National Weather Service.

While many places along the coast saw just trace amounts of rain, Wohlford Dam recorded .28 inch and Birch Hill north of Lake Henshaw has .42 inch, meteorologist Steve Vanderburg said.

"North County definitely got more rain than pretty much anywhere in Southern California," Vanderburg said.

Because of geography, weather systems coming from Catalina Island can drench this region and leave the rain gauge at San Diego's Lindbergh Field high and dry, he said.

The rain should be over for the week, but Monday comes with its own caveat.

A warning about high surf and strong rip currents at San Diego County beaches is in effect though Monday.

Temperatures will slowly increase inland and along the coast, according to forecasters.

Inland highs are expected to break 80 degrees by Thursday, while coastal highs will hover in the low 70s.
