Prop. 8 changed you

It is frustrating to hear the bigotry and intolerance of "No on 8" supporters.

On Nov. 4, I stood up for what I believe is right. I did not rip anyone's rights away. I didn't aid in the oppression of a minority. I did not try and shove my beliefs down anyone's throat. I voted for what I believe is right.

Since Nov. 4, I have seen nothing but hate on the side of the homosexual community. It's sad to see a group of people become so angry and spiteful when the beliefs that I have don't mesh with their agenda. Hasn't their motto always been to love and accept all types of people, even those who have different cultures and beliefs? Well, I guess it's different when what I believe affects their life.

Don't they think that if Proposition 8 had not passed, it would have affected mine? I understand where they are coming from, but I just can't say that I agree with them. I know that they won't agree with me, but at least understand that my position is not one of hate. Please, "No on 8" supporters, stop the hypocrisy. Be tolerant of my beliefs.

Veterans not deserving to be honored?

Regarding the letter from Joseph Oppenheim on Nov. 15: I'm a Vietnam veteran. I served in Vietnam as a platoon medic in 1968. I lost some men, but was able to save more than I lost. I'm very proud to have fought when my country called me.

Was Oppenheim ever in a war? ... Did he ever see a buddy lying there dying or dead? What we did was no different from what was done in any other war. We fought to save our buddies and ourselves. Why was the Vietnam war immoral? We were asked there by the South Vietnamese government, and the Gulf of Tonkin incident really did happen.

Vietnam veterans deserve the same respect that any other veterans receive. After all, we went to a war that no one wanted and were ridiculed, spat upon and cursed when we came home.

To all you Vietnam vets out there, I'm proud of you, brothers. You all have my deepest respect. Thank you for your service.

University students devoid of sense

I noticed on the news that the students at UCSD were upset and protesting against the passage of Proposition 8 by a majority of California voters. It's a shame that today we have to have a vote to clarify what marriage is. A waste of time, effort and precious money!

Today's youth are so liberal with sexuality that they want to redefine the word "marriage" in the dictionary. Seems to me the majority of these youth had grandparents, in addition to their own mothers and fathers ““ all male/female. What don't they understand? If this is a sample of the type of logic emanating from our state university system, it is indeed a very sad example of our education system and its educators.

I've voted to fund the California state university system for the last time. I consider the results of today's teaching totally devoid of common sense. It's a failure! As far as I'm concerned, I'd like to see the homosexuals ... move en masse to Connecticut.

Post-election litter

It seemed that prior to the election, Nick Liebham was the most aggressive at plastering the highways with hundreds of his signs ““ often only a few feet apart. Now the election is past, yet as I drive along Coast Highway and El Camino Real in Carlsbad, I still see multitudes of "Nick Liebham" signs. I think leaving the signs shows poor sportsmanship and contempt for the citizens of our community. Are you just going to leave 'em, Liebham?

Impeach both Bush, Cheney

For this administration to pardon itself for its many transgressions of law and failures to uphold the Constitution, as they all swore to do, would be to undermine the rule of law even further. Please do not permit this as a presidential precedent. Impeach George W. Bush and Dick Cheney to clarify that we do not live under a dictatorship of the executive branch.

Obama must attend U.N. meeting

President-elect Barack Obama can take a powerful first step as leader ““ not only of the American people but also people around the globe ““ by attending the United Nations Climate Meetings this December in Poland.

The planet needs a new, powerful international climate treaty, and the U.S. must take the lead and reverse the shameful record of the Bush administration that failed everyone by denying science and refusing to participate in the Kyoto Protocol.

We see Obama as a leader graced with wisdom and courage, one who is not afraid of difficult decisions, one who is a champion of justice and the environment. The entire web of life is in peril. Please demonstrate to the world that American is indeed a leader of nations for the good of all. Go to Poland!

Homosexual behavior is abnormal

Scott Harris, ("Prop 8 and the churches," Perspective, Nov. 2), believes the Bible is one of the two most important documents in the history of mankind.

Too bad he also states it's written by "flawed men" and uses this half-truth to justify homosexual behavior. The truth is, humans are flawed, but if God is perfect, God helped men write the Bible.

For example, every Scripture ... is inspired by God. All of them useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting and training for a life that has God's approval.

Since God's word doesn't approve of practicing homosexual behavior, why force millions of ... believing Mormons, Jews, Christians and Muslims to accept this behavior?

Homosexual behavior isn't the only abnormal behavior. Imagine habitual adulterers, murders and thieves marching in the streets, demanding civil rights? Refusing to admit wrong? Mocking laws and moral codes? What a mess.

Vietnam vets deserve our praise, too

A letter by Joseph Oppenheim in the Nov. 15 paper has really upset me, and I'm sure many others of the Vietnam vets. He states we should not be proud on Veterans Day of what the Vietnam War veterans did over there.

His attitude brought tears to my eyes, because our son died there during the Tet Offensive in 1968. He was only 21. He was there because he was drafted, there was no choice unless he wanted to run away to Canada, as so many did.

But most young people in those years were raised to love their country without question, no matter what their government asked of them. As we know now, that war was a terrible mistake, and so is the present "war" in Iraq. So many lives lost on both sides with nothing gained that is permanent.

Every Marine we know is proud of having done their duty for the USA, no matter where or why. It's called patriotism!

If Obama seeks 'change,' why insiders?

Barack Hussein Obama, the man of "change," is now forming his Cabinet and choosing his advisers. Old-time politics are out, change is in!

So why did he choose Rahm Emanuel for his chief of staff? They don't get anymore "Washington insider" than Emanuel! His reputation for "thuggish" is even more extreme than the Republicans' "Hammer" Tom DeLay.

Obama's stated goal was "change," a new direction; so why has he chosen 31 out of 47 advisers and confidantes from the Bill Clinton era and now is flirting with the chance of choosing Hillary Clinton for his secretary of state? He may feel the wrath of Michelle for this choice. [Be careful] ... Catering to the Clintons is like admitting that Bubba really was the first black president.

People need to 'wake up'

A few weeks ago, congressmen and senators voted to bail out the financial sector ... with embarrassing results and no accountability. Now it's the auto industry.

When are the people going to wake up and start demanding that the people we elect represent our best interest?

After 34 years in this country, I'm beginning to lose hope; I always was an optimist that I made the right choice moving here. Lately it's very hard to keep that optimism.

We must contact our lawmakers and make them accountable for their failed leadership (or lack of it!).

San Diego should lead in green power

It is time for San Diego and the nation to loosen our dependence on nonrenewable energy resources and put in place the infrastructure to support renewable energy production.

San Diego has been a leader in the development of high-tech and biotech for the nation and could become the same for developing a new energy infrastructure. The challenges are substantial but the minds to tackle them are here in San Diego.

The combination of university and business knows how give this region the edge in what is the nation's next frontier: energy that meets our needs without causing further harm to the environment.

Beliefs will not stop nature from creating gays

Bravo, bravo, bravo. Finally, 100 top military are asking for the overturning of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." One of the military is a father of a homosexual child, and until this [was revealed] to him, I am sure he thought, like all others, it was a choice.

It takes a loving, compassionate, intellectual parent to "get it" when their child comes to them and says, "Dad, Mom, I have to tell you I am gay." Now, the parent sees the child just the same, and is confused.

"You mean you are attracted to your same sex?"

"That's it, it changes nothing else about me. I love you, God, the dog, hate spinach, love helping the poor, like my job, and everything else you have known about me is still the same."

Over time, the parent gets comfortable with the idea and soon it becomes second nature, except for the parents who are intellectually challenged and use the Bible to hid behind their bigotry.

The Bible is not a medical or science book, but the foundation of the ancient ... Hebrew religion, and nothing will stop Mother Nature from producing homosexuals, heterosexuals, transsexuals, bisexuals, Down syndrome, dwarfs and geniuses. It's just the way it is.

Unions need to give up benefits

The United Auto Workers union had the people earning $30 per hour, plus all insurance benefits and a full pension. Our sheriff's or police officers don't get that.

The CEOs are getting too much, and all above is why they are in trouble.

If we are going to bail them out, the union leaders need to bring down the insurance benefits, no more full pensions and etc. This applies to our government also.

They want us to spend more money. How can we, and pay our bills, when our stocks have tumbled and we just keep helping the illegals and helping countries that hate us?

Gays, lesbians are like spoiled little children

To the homosexuals and lesbians: There are two states in this nation that will allow you to marry. For heaven's sake, get off your soapbox and go get married.

Your behavior puts me in the mind of the mother who takes her child into a candy store. When the child was told by the mother it could not have candy, down on the floor it went, kicking, screaming at the top of its lungs, causing those around this spoiled child to want to leave the store.

We have all seen that picture, and now we are seeing it in so-called adults who can't have their way in a lifestyle that kills. Only difference between you and the other child, your behavior is becoming dangerous to all the rest of us. Like the child in the candy store, you will continue to throw your ungodly behavior around, hoping we will change our minds. We won't. ...

This lifestyle, if given over to, would bring this nation to an end morally. Many nations in history died that way, dying from the inside out. As it is today, everyone knows someone who has a loved one living in this lifestyle (including me). ... Marriage is only between a man and a woman.

Marriage is between a man and a woman

This is a letter to all people who are upset by Proposition 8: I was a yes voter on Prop. 8, but only for one reason. Marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman.

I sincerely believe that gays should have all of the same rights and privileges of people who are straight. I believe that they should be able to legalize their union if they so choose. I do not believe they have a right to call that union "marriage."

Marriage, as it says in the Bible, is between a man and a woman and it has always been that way.

So come on, guys, get creative. Come up with your own word. Be it one word for any relationship between two people of the same sex or it is one word for a relationship between two men and one word for a relationship between two women, that is your choice.

Write a proposition and put it on the ballot the next time we vote and, in my opinion, it will pass overwhelmingly. From a yes voter who cares about you.

Repeal the Federal Reserve Act

A simple majority in both houses of Congress is all that is needed to repeal the Federal Reserve. Section 31 of the Federal Reserve Act states that, "The right to amend, alter or repeal this act is hereby expressly reserved."

The Constitution of the U.S., Article 1, Section 8 says, "The Congress shall have the power to coin money, regulate the value thereof of the foreign coin, and fix the standard and weights and measures."

The Federal Reserve is not part of the U.S. government. It is a privately owned central bank that lends money to the federal government. ...

That $700 billion bailout Congress just passed was really a loan application. The Fed will lend it to the government at a high interest rate. And what did the Bush administration tell you it was going to do with the money? It's going to give the money to the banks. It's a round-trip ticket from the Fed privately owned by the banks ““ back to the banks ““ at a high interest rate.

Such a deal! Isn't it time to end this scam?

The Fed controls the money supply. The Fed controls prices. The Fed controls the value of money. The Fed creates inflation. The Fed creates deflation. The Fed creates bull to bear markets! The Fed has flooded the market with paper dollars, reducing their value.

Wars, not veterans, are 'immoral'

In response to Joseph Oppenheim's letter of Nov. 15 and those of like thinking, it is agreed that wars are usually immoral. However, to single out veterans of the Vietnam War as immoral is not factual.

Wars are declared by the powers that be: dictators, presidents, etc., who rule. Soldiers obey rules.

Example: Hitler was elected by a majority and he declared war for his own purposes, including the killings of Jews and gays. Other rulers responded to the attacks.

Bush declared war on Iraq under false pretenses; Cheney declared the Iraq war was not about oil.

It took years for Rome to fail with its armies all over the world. Under the Bush administration of eight years, the U.S. has a good start on failing.

I'm 78 years old, and now it's a problem for younger people. Can you turn it around?

To cap it off, “Don't they think that if Proposition 8 had not passed, it would have affected mine?” They never say exactly how, do they? Tangentially? In the abstract?
In the eight months between the Court ruling and the vote no one, no one, had shown how gay marriage adversely affected their life in any way, shape or form that required a Constitutional remedy to rectify the injustice.

That should be a losing argument in any court in the land. If it prevails, it would overturn 50 years of judicial precedents. And then it’s Katie, bar the door.

Some say if the CA Supreme Court rules one way or another we’ll just vote them out. Then why have courts at all? The people can vote on every issue.
There’s a reason the Framers made U.S. Supreme Court Justices not subject to elections. There’s a reason they enacted a very stringent process for amending the U.S. Constitution.

Not just devoid of sense, devoid of an education. In fact, most americans sadly, do not know how our system of government works, nor the history surrounding it.
According to a survey taken recently,
Americans taking ISI’s civic literacy test, 71% failed. Nationwide, the average score on the test is only 49%. The vast majority cannot recognize the language of Lincoln’s famous speech.

The test contains only 33 questions designed to measure knowledge of America’s founding principles, political history, international relations, and market economy.

The test is mainly a test basic knowledge that should be known by any high school graduate. Six questions were borrowed from U.S. government naturalization exams that test knowledge expected of all new American citizens. Nine are taken from the National Assessment of Educational Progress tests that the U.S. Department of Education uses to assess high school seniors. Three are drawn from typical American History 101 exams found in most college entrance exams.

The results reveal that Americans are alarmingly uninformed about our Constitution, the basic functions of our government, the key texts of our national history, and economic principles.
Even 43% the Nation's politicians failed to know what the Electoral College was, or that it was mandated by the Constitution. Many answered the question by saying it was a "college" for preparing the President.

Less than half can name all three branches of the government.
Only 21% know that the phrase “government of the people, by the people, for the people” comes from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
Although Congress has voted twice in the last eight years to approve foreign wars, only 53% know that the power to declare war belongs to Congress. Almost 40% incorrectly believe it belongs to the president.
Only 55% know that Congress shares authority over U.S. foreign policy with the president. Almost a quarter incorrectly believe Congress shares this power with the United Nations.
Only 27% know the Bill of Rights expressly prohibits establishing an official religion for the United States.
Less than one in five know that the phrase “a wall of separation” between church and state comes from a letter by Thomas Jefferson.
Almost half incorrectly believe it can be found in the Constitution.
Americans from all age groups, income brackets, and political ideologies fail the test of civic literacy.

Please explain to me why that is. I am genuinely curious...

My guess is that the protesters are afraid of the repercussions of protesting at such a place. I think that the protestors feel it is ok to protest and intimidate Christians,Mormons, etc because somehow it is now "OK" or even fashionable to do so. However, if you protest against black people.... hmmmm interesting thought eh?

What would happen to your protesters there? Would you be able to intimidate them as easily as you feel you can intimidate a Church-goer?

Fair is fair. Either protest all the supporters of prop 8 or none at all.

You could still forbid your children from playing with theirs. You could join churches that ban them. Tell me again, how would your life be affected?

Pretty incredible, to deny people certain rights and privileges based only on disliking their kind without even being able to give ONE actual way that their marriages harm anyone. I suspect I'll be waiting for a long, long time. Sooner or later, the courts or a more enlightened generation (the same generation that voted for Obama, 70-30) will take care of this matter. Change isn't about this or that little appointment, or whether the stock market goes down or up. It's simple: Bushian government is out, and that's the change America wanted and got. Simple. OLAF: in reply to your inquiry of Nov 21 @ 11:24 AM:

... in which you demanded proof of a gay gene. I will provide you sufficient information so that you may launch your own academic discover and research. If you ignore this presentation, then we may rightfully call you either un-educatable or willfully ignorant.

First, we ask why you demand such information? If there is a gay gene, what does it prove to you, and how does it affect your acceptance of and attitude toward homosexuality? If there is no gay gene, what does it prove to you, and how does it affect your acceptance of and attitude toward homosexuality?

Secondly, this is a civil rights issue in the opinion of the most scholarly civil rights judges and law experts, and has nothing to do with genes. This is my position.

Thirdly, there is a large body of evidence for both a genetic and a biological basis for an individual’s sexual orientation, whether heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or any place on the intermediate scale. Please understand, that if we go looking for a “gay gene”, we may also have to go looking for a “straight gene”, or even a “bisexual gene.” Genetics is a very complicated science. Has Olaf found the heterosexual gene yet?

I quote you an excellent quote by Irving Forbing:
QUOTE: “Genes are not simple things, where the finding of one that is responsible for a particular characteristic or behavior will be achieved.

Genes normally have between 5,000 and 10,000 base pairs of DNA in their structures.

Regardless of its size, one gene specifies the amino acid sequence of only one protein. This is the definition of a gene, but it turns out that many genes are also involved in the utilization of only one protein. This complexity is so great that many genes are required for the synthesis of any given protein and many proteins for the synthesis of any given gene.

It requires the interaction of other proteins, such as enzymes, and even then these reactions do not necessarily reveal the same results in every individual.” END OF QUOTE

QUESTION to OLAF, if you, in your genetic search, find the exact location of a specific “gay gene”, what do you plan to do with that finding?
Eradicate it? Destroy all humans who bear that gene? Send them to the gas chamber or ovens? Seek a “cure” for something beautiful that God has created?

To launch your search, begin with a study to see if homosexuality is a trans-species anomaly, in particular, among mammals. For if there is, this would indicate conclusively that homosexuality is not really so anomalous as first imagined. There is a great body of study and research in this area.

Your first assignment: Use Google to readily accessible studies and research. Suggestion: Google (1) “animal homosexuality biological exuberance” or try (2) “homosexuality among mammals”. This is an excellent place for you to start.

Your second assignment: Google up a very recent study with the entry “brain scan shows differences homosexuals”.

Your third assignment: Read this interesting report found with the Google entry of “Born gay? Seattle Times”.

Finally, when you have completed your homework, report back to me. I have much more information for you to pursue. I am very willing to assist you however you intellectual capacity and interest leads you, so long as your mind is open and curious.

A right-wing blogger? No, those are the words of Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the Washington, D.C. schools, who is speaking truth to teacher-union power to shake up one of the nation's worst education systems.

In going after tenure, Ms. Rhee is taking on the holiest citadel of the education establishment. This summer she offered a new teacher contract proposal with two options. Teachers could choose a plan under which their pay would rise spectacularly -- nearly doubling by 2010 -- in exchange for giving up tenure. Or they could opt for a smaller pay bump and still lose some seniority rights...

TO: Marine Gunner 9:12 AM.

Like good gunners, we target the source of the fire, and with limited resources, we target the heaviest and most deadly fire - which is the Mormon Church. The may constitute but 2% of the population of California, but they provided almost $22 millions (more than half) of the funding to launch their brutal attack on the right of all people to marry.

Blacks contributed very little money to the despicable war of defamation and hate. We do not blame blacks, although they voted heavily for Prop 8, because their message does not reflect the hate show by the Mormon church. We are able to reach out to our black brothers and sisters, but the Mormon Church is incorrigible. Furthermore, even gay blacks are more concerned with economic problems than gay marriage. The wealthier white Mormons are more concerned with gay marriage than about staying in their homes. They are part of the hard core right wing constituency that dwells upon gay marriage instead of equal rights and justice.

You must understand that the black citizens of this country are still an oppressed minority, and not by their choosing. The Mormons whine and protest that they are being targeted and persecuted, but that is by their own choosing: they have made a deliberate choice to propagate hate and prejudice.

Now back to the point. I see and understand what Gay Man is saying in his response and to an extent I can agree with his reasoning. However, that said, I would like to point out that there were many Christians that voted no on 8. However as we have been told, 70% of black voters voted yes. That is a significant number and says more to me than any amount of money the Mormons threw at the issue. I don't know if 70% of Mormons actually voted yes or not.I am not a Mormon and I am not going to defend them. I am Christian however and I am fairly certain that the percentage of Christians that voted no is pretty substantial. I have heard of and seen a large amount of Christians speaking out against Prop 8, yet that does not take them out of your sights. Alf wrote on Nov 22, 2008 3:53 PM:Well, "Angry yet gay" at 2:07PM,
"Marriage License Analogy" is twisting things with a false premise, that one is permanent and the other is not.
Another false premise is that the "rules" or "code" of marriage require that the persons be of opposite gender.
As for permance, heterosexual marriages have a 50+ percent failure rate. How permanent is that? Imagine if houses had such a failure rate!
As for "rules" or "code", the rules and the code of the California Constitution prohibit discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation, it would seem that the problems that the Yes on 8 people have are with the equal protection clause and the proscription of discrimination based on gender and/or sexual orientation.
You can't have part of the Constitution prohibit said discrimination and another part explicitly be discriminatory.
The house versus trailer analogy is nothing less than a direct insult to homosexuals, essentially calling them "trailer trash",
as if they are "less than" real people and
as if they are "less than" deserving of EQUAL protection under the law.
If homosexuals can be voted by 52.2 percent of those who voted as being "less than" deserving of EQUAL protection under the law,
what will the next group be that a slight majority of those who vote determine to be "less than" deserving of EQUAL protection under the law?
Hmmmm?
If upheld, the precedent set by Prop. 8 opens the hanger door wide open.
Regards, Alf.

Did anyone happen to notice who Obama has picked to be Treasury Secretary???
Hmmmm...Tim Geithner, President of The Federal Reserve.
Considering that he helped orshestrate the acquisition of Bear Sterns by JP Morgan, it makes you wonder.
The man is supposed to serve the interest of the public but took it upon himself to be smack in the middle of private corporate business.
He was also director of the Policy Development and Review Department at the International Monetary Fund from 2001 until 2003, and is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations and a member of The Trilateral Commisssion.

I have pointed out for quite a long time that you folks are being led like lambs to the slaughter and that Obama is actually worse than McCain (and they are both bad for this Country).
Both Obama and McCain are bought and paid for by The Trilateral Commission and The Bilderberg Broup, as is Hillary(who is going to be Secretary of State).

Yes folks, America is in dire straights and unfortuately, it is going to get worse.
Just wait and see the rest of Obama's appointments........
The Power Elite have exactly what they want...one of their errand boys as President, and more of their pawns being placed by Obama.

Yes folks, change is coming...but it won't be good.

Sure, Marines get their kiesters handed to them from time to time, and they probably deserve it when it happens. As far as the little old lady and the church group girl goes: I would post links for you if NCT would let us. However I am sure google would provide you with plenty of information if you look for it. While your at it why don't you look up what happened in that Church in Michigan...

Also, not sure what happened to the reply to Yo Yo and Focal Point a few hours ago...

Trilateral Commission. Bilderberg Broup (I assume that was supposed to be "Group").
National Banks to regulate currency as enumerated in Article I Section 8 of the Constitution.
All a big conspiracy, but no evidence, no documentation of any kind to support any claim beyond the existence of the Trilateral Commission as a bipartisan, multinational debating society.
If there is something sinister there; if there is some kind of "Power Elite" - if there is some kind of broad conspiracy to dominate, WHERE IS THE PROOF.
Just the wild ramblings and unsupported, undocumented rantings of the those pulling the tinfoil ever tighter around their ears.
Oh yeah, this from the same guy who claims (still with no evidence) that the 14th and 16th Amendments were never actually ratified, but questions serious science when backed up by carefully documented empirical and scientific evidence.
Some people just live in delusional worlds of fantasy.
Proof, Nick, Proof.

No one wants to protest against racial minorities, like black people. Just the people who want to discriminate against gay people. There must have been this total divide that I don't understand just lately. It is not like we live in Texas or Utah. This is California, people. Gay people want equal rights. Get used to it.

no offense taken.
I guess that I haven't bragged recently about building my house (co-designer, carpenter, plumber, electrician and roofer) although none of those trades are unique to men. The best electrician I've met so far was a pretty woman (don't tell my brother-in-law, he's just a bit slower than she was), I'm good but slow and speed doesn't count when you're an owner-builder. Now I'm honing my skills as a photographer, my true passion for the last 46 years.

What's wrong with unisex bathrooms? (Used many of them in other countries -- clean and decent.) And have MG and Ron forgotten the many horrible things which have been done to homosexuals in this country over the years? As for attacking little old ladies -- well, that did happen I guess, but a little old lady who would walk into the middle of a demonstrating crowd carrying a plastic cross is kind of asking for it, isn't she? And do we know what she did with that cross and her mouth before she got hurt? Did someone hurt her deliberately, or did she stumble and fall? Oh, it's Sunday morning and I have two turkey dinners to go to today --

Asking for it??? Are you serious?? Think about what you just advocated....seriously. Look at the big picture now... If you can say she was "asking for it" then the reverse could hold true if the situation was reversed. Now, who is it that is living in the wrong era?

No Nick, actually you never have.
You have copied and pasted pages and pages of recycled (and probably copyrighted) material from other web sites and other sources, but ALL of it was just the unfounded charges and allegation and NONE OF IT contained any objective verification of your absurd claims which remain wholly and completely UNFOUNDED.

Nick, your blogs reveal a person who is quick to believe the wildest, most unsubstantiated claims, yet if scientists offer extensive consensus backed up by extensive experimental and observational data, you accuse them of bizarre scams and conspiracies as well (that is, UNLESS they have been funded by special interests who profit from misinformatin, then they're OK by you).
I think you got a couple of wires plugged in backwards.
That tinfoil must have shorted something out.
