I agree with i think wrote on Nov 24, 2008 1:26 PM:What does a kid have to do to be first team? 1072 yards receiving and 2667 yards passing respectively. Both are #1 in terms of yardage in North County. The two first team QB's had this honor locked up before the season began...and the Oceanside QB has certainly earned the award this season.

north county player wrote on Nov 25, 2008 1:18 AM:i believe that alex stinton and jared moris deserve to be on at least the 2nd team. Alex had 4 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries and jared is a solid middle backer that loves to hit people.
ridiculous wrote on Nov 25, 2008 1:50 AM:just because of westview past history sousa and hansen are subject to some discrimination.what more do you have to do than lead your position in receiving and passing...i guess it "isnt as good" as the ones makin 1st team
TJ wrote on Nov 25, 2008 2:32 AM:Congratulations, Coach Silvey! Way to bring some pride back to a wounded program, and great job with the team. You really deserve it. I can't wait for next year after the kids have had a full year of your leadership and some time to work into your system.
Go Warriors!
To Coach Silvey wrote on Nov 25, 2008 7:17 AM:We miss you greatly in Carlsbad. We knew Fallbrook was getting a top coach when you took over. Congratulations Coach Silvey!!
Can someone tell me how Carlsbad top Defensive player Jordan Garcia didn't even make 2nd team? Carlsbad gets hosed again!
like the rankings wrote on Nov 25, 2008 8:28 AM:Don't know why -- but it appears that past performance and recognition outside of the current HS season sometimes plays as much a role in these awards as current stats or performance -- perhaps it's the "name recognition" factor?
i think again... wrote on Nov 25, 2008 8:29 AM:that the coach should be Mike Woodward.
In 2 years he turned a program that was 1-9 to 9-2
john s. wrote on Nov 25, 2008 9:15 AM:The Palomar defensive player of the year didnt get first or second team because the coaches for the other programs do a better job selling thier kids, not that they are better, come on Larry East over Jordan Garcia REALLY one step further two or three kids on first team LB's shouldnt be there. Good job by those coaches for selling their kids.
Why wrote on Nov 25, 2008 9:45 AM:is Cathederal considered a North County school? Although the RB from Cathederal is probably the best football player in the county, I wonder why he or his teammates would appear on a "North County" listing. The team plays in a city league and doesn't really schedule north county non-conference opponents (only played one this year).
Volleyball wrote on Nov 25, 2008 10:47 AM:It is too bad that these selections were done without the input of coaches. Also, Sha'Dare McNeal is a great player but not player of the year. There were a few others named to first and second team on that list that were better. I am a head volleyball coach, no I don't have a player on this list and yes, I did see all of these teams/players play this season.
vista fan wrote on Nov 25, 2008 12:13 PM:there should be more black shirt defense of guys up there. vista had more shut outs then half of the teams defenses up there. black shirt defense!!!

"it is not all about stats. he is a junior, he will have another chance."
If he should have been recognized this year and you’re making a statement like this because he’s a junior and he has another year… that’s ridiculous! What if they get hurt and don’t have the opportunity the next year. The argument of “They are a senior, so they should be recognized” is just dumb! Recognize those that get it done, regardless of the year they are.

just keep playing cause everyones trying to get to the Q b/c thats the ultimate goal

Westview wrote on Nov 25, 2008 1:38 PM:WV, quit whining. Do you know how many kids would be happy with a second team nomination. You should congratulating the WV kids that did make the second team. Quit griping about what you didn't or should have gotten. You make it to Qualcomm and I will be the first one on here apologizing. You wll have to learn to run the ball first though.
mel wrote on Nov 25, 2008 1:40 PM:i think because cathedral recruits all over the county.. but i they are considered north county dont know why... we all know that certain players are not listed that deserve to be but hey this is what they feel deserve this
To not right wrote on Nov 25, 2008 1:46 PM:If I understand you, anyone that does not agree with you is dumb. I think they got this one right. If the other QB's threw it 340 times they should be leading not only the North County but they should be leading the Nation with that many attempts. That doesn't make someone a first teamer. Be happy with with what they awarded you mom.
Voting wrote on Nov 25, 2008 2:04 PM:There is absolutely no involvement from coaches on the list that has been provided for all sports. The voting was done by the writers of the NCT. Again, coaches did not pick these players or the teams they were placed on!

And how do DUncan , and Scahill make Second team !!! This is an outrage ! Look at the stats and take the top kids. Regardless of age , or dont do it at all!!
to crying westview wrote on Nov 25, 2008 10:38 PM:the 1st first team qbs were both from the "crappy league" as well as one of the 1st team wrs. so westview took advantage of the nappin valley center jaguars and beat them fair and square.
Perhaps wrote on Nov 26, 2008 7:26 AM:my earlier post was not brief enough to make it online. I'll be brief here. My son plays for Westview and is on this list. We are happy for him, and for all players named here, including the two boys deservedly listed at his position on the first team. No complaints. Happy Thanksgiving and for all still playing, good luck Friday night. GO WESTVIEW!
TO NCT wrote on Nov 26, 2008 7:34 AM:How could you choos the coach from TP field hockey over the coach from SDA...Keri inherited a team laden with Futures elite players and all league choices. All she did was tell them to play. SDA went to a new league with a group of no names and DOMINATED.Their loss to Serra in the semi-finals was contraversial but bottom line was Serra scored more then SDA.Too bad you prematurely made your decision for the coach of the year. Also....how did you select the 3rd or 4th best goalie in SD as 1st team this year..Again past reputation sure does help
to innocent bystander wrote on Nov 26, 2008 8:55 AM:I agree -- I think we need a "second" FH team named to capture the talent .. also -- agree with "to NCT" on the Goalie comment -- seems this was based on non-current HS season criteria?
first of all wrote on Nov 26, 2008 9:21 AM:what "crappy" league are you talking about? valley? i dont think so.. and jordan wynn is the best qb in the county if not one of the best in the state... whats your team?? i wanna know
10sfan wrote on Nov 26, 2008 3:40 PM:to mel (and I'm sure everyone else outside of Cathedral) - I'm sick of hearing how Cathedral "recruits". Can anyone bring up and actual proven case of it? I know a few of the coaches there as well as the AD and I know for a fact that they actually lost a lot of student-athletes to area schools. Like any other athletic program with long term coaches like Carroll or Burke or Harrah (TP volleyball), maybe it has something to do with the coaching as well? If I'm not mistaken there has been another North County school in recent months under investigation about illegal recruiting and they are a PUBLIC school. Please throw out some actual evidence about recruiting than simply being jealous of a school's success. Enjoy the success of the student-athlete and high school sports in general.
Keep up the great work coaches!
POLO wrote on Nov 27, 2008 10:54 AM:what is this? carslbad and vista make CIF finals, yet there are 3 from cbad and 2 from vista throughout both teams. If your gonna make a north county team, base it on their performance against top quality teams. Valley League is weak, and has little challenging competition.
to westview wrote on Nov 27, 2008 11:21 AM:lets not bash the WV QB too much....They do win with him but I understand your point. It is not all about stats.
Sp Baby wrote on Nov 27, 2008 12:58 PM:David shatzer
had 4 interceptions and 99 takles
if that doesnt get you on all team i dont know what does
To Weastview watcher wrote on Nov 27, 2008 1:21 PM:And the rest of Westview, First off Stills and Coleman were 1 & 2 in the north county for receiving at the end of the regular season. The only reason Sousa is ahead of them now is because LCC & Oside both had 1st round bye's. NCT got this one right without a doubt! Coleman literaly came out of nowhere as a soph. unless you were awhere of his abilities prior to the start of the season. Not to mention he was pulled out of 6 games by half time, his numbers could have been alot higher. Good Job to all that made the list, and dont discredit them for doing so.

Polo wrote on Nov 30, 2008 6:47 PM:Duncan is one heck of a player and deserves first team honors, as well as Scahill/Penney and select Carlsbad players. Fallbrook had some talent besides Pril as well.
