Vying for VP

During the Democratic YouTube debate, the presidential candidates were asked what they thought of the candidate to their left. Gov. Bill Richardson replied, "I love all of the candidates here. In fact, I think they would all do great in the White House as my vice president." 2 comment(s)

Recession, mes-mession

I am the first to admit that I am no biz whiz. Call me crazy, but with gas shooting to 4 bucks a gallon, house prices steadily slipping and nearly every sector and business laying off, buying out or offering "voluntary separation programs" ... seems recessiony to me. Yet the powers that be keep telling us "No, no, no ... we're fine!" Really, what's the worst that could happen if they just admitted it? 3 comment(s)

Ron who?

So, Barack has a posse and Hillary is someone's homegirl, but who is this Ron Paul guy? I see the signs of Revolution (read the bolded part backwards) and a person or two waving his signs on freeway overpasses, but have yet seen his face on CNN. What gives? 55 comment(s)

Resolutions for the institutions

Everyone always asks "So what's your New Year's resolution?" And so often it's something that we half-heartedly vow to follow and we do ... until about Jan. 20 or so. Since it's far more fun to tell others what to do, what resolutions would you propose for your favorite North County institution? 17 comment(s)

"O" really?

We've all seen the golden touch Oprah yields. She likes a book -- boom! Bestseller. She says a foot cream is one of her "favorite things" -- sold out in a day. So how far-reaching is the "O" factor? Could it get another famous "O" the Democratic nomination? 35 comment(s)

Have the community planners thought about this before they approve another 500+ housing community? I doubt it. Gas is scarce, water is scarce, while cars and houses with lawns are more than plentiful... More...

Jake your point is well taken. Did Calvary Chapel take issue with other nearby business' that also sell the same products? If they did not then we should wonder why Mr. Singh's business is being singled out in particular. It sounds unfair and fishy. More...

Yes, itŐs time to unite & grow up people. This is one of ways the human race will survive, so taking these kinds of steps in schools helps, and protect our kids, even the racistŐs kids, from getting beat up. More...

Let's break out the Champagne, pop the cork, welcome that Marine home, and welcome Denisse. I can't believe that anyone who has truly known what it's like to love someone could ever be so crass as some of the comments I've read. Geeze! It's almost Valentine's Day. Bunch of Scrooges with no heart. More...

Wow, I'd live to take this tour. I've always wanted to leave America and go live in France. Unfortunately, I had some difficulty learning the language. It is a beautiful language and beautiful country. I'll have to put this on my list of things to do before I die. More...

I'm against the toll road because (A) I think the money could be better used elsewhere, (B) San Mateo Creek is a pristine habitat that should be preserved. However, I've been surfing San Onofre and Upper and Lower Trestle since the early 1960s. That road won't affect the break, just the stupid little context stage they have set up. Also, the whole Save the Trestle movement has been blown out-of-control. More...

I always thought the county could be better served by a new commuter train for the inland area, instead of a commuter train bringing those folks to the coast. A "coaster" like train residing between North and South bound traffic lanes of the 15 freeway would be expensive, but would do a lot to aid in the daily congestion. More...

I agree Tony, fans putting LT down are shallow, at best. In my 30 plus years of cheering for San Diego teams, there have always been these type of chip-on-the-shoulder fans. I suggest they stop cheering for SD and just go with what ever team is doing best i.e. Red Sox, Yankees, Patriots, Green Bay, etc. More...
