Should Barry Bonds be the Padres' next left fielder?
N) Let's put aside the fact that Barry Bonds is as likable as a toilet brush. That on the list of people you'd like to hang out with, he ranks somewhere below "rabid wolverine." That his presence is tolerated by teammates the way a bus driver accepts an outbreak of hemorrhoids. 31 comment(s)
Blogging the game: 'Beach Boys' take center stage
The Cardiac Kids from Solana Beach are on the cusp of reaching the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. We're using this space to document their Western Regional championship game against Chandler (Ariz.) National in San Bernardino. 19 comment(s)
Should Congress investigate sports scandals?
Baseball commissioner Bud Selig most certainly would not have presented Roger Clemens as a sacrificial offering to Capitol Hill. Questions about the New England Patriots' spy tactics, and how they might have affected the outcomes of Super Bowls, probably wouldn't continue to be asked and evaded. 13 comment(s)
What's the best reason to watch today's Super Bowl?
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers You could say 30 years of rock-star living haven't been kind to Tom Petty, but even in his pre-wrinkled prime Petty wasn't a likely pick for the cover of Teen Beat. 6 comment(s)
Which event is more spectacular?
Super Bowl Brandt Snedeker rolls in a two-foot putt for par, and the effort is punctuated with disinterest. 3 comment(s)
What's the greatest upset in sports history?
Miracle on Ice As a peewee hockey player growing up in northern Minnesota, my team often crossed the border into Canada for games. 6 comment(s)

Have the community planners thought about this before they approve another 500+ housing community? I doubt it. Gas is scarce, water is scarce, while cars and houses with lawns are more than plentiful...

Unlicensed motorists, particularly those driving on suspended or revoked licenses, are a major public safety menace. I applaud the checkpoints and the impounding of the associated vehicles.

Jake your point is well taken. Did Calvary Chapel take issue with other nearby business' that also sell the same products? If they did not then we should wonder why Mr. Singh's business is being singled out in particular. It sounds unfair and fishy.

Yes, itŐs time to unite & grow up people. This is one of ways the human race will survive, so taking these kinds of steps in schools helps, and protect our kids, even the racistŐs kids, from getting beat up.

Let's break out the Champagne, pop the cork, welcome that Marine home, and welcome Denisse. I can't believe that anyone who has truly known what it's like to love someone could ever be so crass as some of the comments I've read. Geeze! It's almost Valentine's Day. Bunch of Scrooges with no heart.

Wow, I'd live to take this tour. I've always wanted to leave America and go live in France. Unfortunately, I had some difficulty learning the language. It is a beautiful language and beautiful country. I'll have to put this on my list of things to do before I die.

I'm against the toll road because (A) I think the money could be better used elsewhere, (B) San Mateo Creek is a pristine habitat that should be preserved. However, I've been surfing San Onofre and Upper and Lower Trestle since the early 1960s. That road won't affect the break, just the stupid little context stage they have set up. Also, the whole Save the Trestle movement has been blown out-of-control.

I always thought the county could be better served by a new commuter train for the inland area, instead of a commuter train bringing those folks to the coast.
A "coaster" like train residing between North and South bound traffic lanes of the 15 freeway would be expensive, but would do a lot to aid in the daily congestion.

I agree Tony, fans putting LT down are shallow, at best. In my 30 plus years of cheering for San Diego teams, there have always been these type of chip-on-the-shoulder fans. I suggest they stop cheering for SD and just go with what ever team is doing best i.e. Red Sox, Yankees, Patriots, Green Bay, etc.

Do we live in a vengenful society? Very few crimes warrant a 60yr sentence. This is ridiculous, he should not get a day over what Cunningham got. And people complain about overcrowding in prisons, these types of sentences are why they are overcrowded
