Free drought-tolerant plant seminar

VALLEY CENTER -- A-1 Irrigation & Do It Best Hardware will host a discussion on drought-tolerant plants from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at 28511 Cole Grade Road.

Representatives from San Diego County Water Authority, Valley Center Municipal Water District, irrigation suppliers and Horakh Nursery will lead the discussion. Topics will include alternative landscaping ideas with Valley Center materials and other options to keep the community looking its best.

NAIOP San Diego to host market snapshot series

DEL MAR -- NAIOP San Diego will host a discussion July 21 on the industrial real estate market ,covering conditions and projections for the industrial market, as part of its "Market Snapshot."

Registration and breakfast start at 7:30 a.m. and the program runs from 8-9:15 a.m. at the Marriott San Diego/Del Mar, 11966 El Camino Real.

Panelists are: David Thomas, principal, LBA Realty; Michael Murphy, president, Murphy Development; Dennis Visser, senior advisor, Grubb & Ellis/BRE Commercial; Michael Neal, president and chief executive officer, HG Fenton; and Randy LaChance, senior vice president, Voit Commercial. Moderating will be Mickey Morera, vice president, Cushman & Wakefield.

Tri-City Healthcare District awards $300,000 in grants

OCEANSIDE -- North County Health Services, YMCA Oz North Coast, the Women's Resource Center and Mama's Kitchen are just a few of the 19 North County nonprofits that were recently awarded grants by the Tri-City Healthcare District board of directors.

Each year, funds are allocated by the district's board to be used in a competitive grant process for nonprofits that provide needed health programs for residents of Carlsbad, Vista and Oceanside. Grant applications are evaluated by a volunteer committee of district residents.

The 19 grants were announced at a Tri-City Healthcare District board of directors meeting in June.

Coldwell Banker raises $55,000 in charity golf tournament

RANCHO BERNARDO -- Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in San Diego and Temecula Valley raised more than $55,000 at the third annual Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Community Foundation Golf Tournament, held June 22 at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo.

Proceeds from the sold-out event benefited a number of nonprofits throughout the San Diego and Temecula areas, including Boys & Girls Club of San Dieguito; Boys & Girls Club of Vista; Meals on Wheels Greater San Diego Inc.; Ramona Senior Center; Arthritis Foundation; and Palomar Family YMCA.

Also benefiting: Magdalena Ecke YMCA; Rancho Bernardo Community Association; Children's Heart Foundation; Project Wildlife; Mo Manna Ministries; SDLGBT Community Center; Cancer Angels of San Diego; New Haven Youth & Family Services; Make-a-Wish Foundation; and Oceanside Senior Center.

Last year, the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Community Foundation Golf Tournament raised $37,000.

Verdezyne signs $1.1M industrial lease

CARLSBAD -- Verdezyne Inc., a privately owned company developing biofuels and chemicals, has signed a four-year lease on an 11,472-square-foot industrial property for $1.1 million.

The property is at 2715 Loker Ave.

Brian Mulvaney, of Voit Real Estate Services Brokerage division's San Diego office, represented the lessor, Peter Basile Living Trust. Jerry Keeny of CB Richard Ellis represented Verdezyne.

Jet Source adds charter flights from Salt Lake City

CARLSBAD -- Jet Source, a business aviation company at McClellan-Palomar Airport, has added three aircraft based at Salt Lake City International Airport to its charter fleet.

The aircraft will serve charter customers flying to regional destinations, intercontinental and international locations as well. They are a Gulfstream G550, a Falcon 50EX and a Pilatus.

The Gulfstream G550 is one of the largest planes in the Jet Source fleet. It seats 14 and has international capabilities, reaching destinations up to 7,700 miles.

The Falcon 50EX seats nine and can fly coast to coast with a range up to 3,840 miles. The Pilatus seats eight and has a range of 1,920 miles.

Jet Source charters include a dedicated flight crew, including personal cabin attendant and in-flight gourmet dining provided by Jet Source's concierge service.

Aaron's Rents leases Escondido retail space

ESCONDIDO -- JM Darden & Company, doing business as Aaron's Rents, leased 7,500 square feet of retail space at Civic Center Plaza, 421 N. Escondido Blvd., Escondido 92025. The five-year lease is valued at $585,000.

Brad Jones and Lauren Matricardi of CB Richard Ellis represented the lessor; MCS Civic Center Plaza LLC. Don Zech of CDC Commercial represented Aaron's Rents.

The lease brings the 137,164-square-foot retail center to 93 percent occupancy, with three suites available from 1,620 square feet to 4,692 square feet. Civic Center Plaza tenants include Old Navy, Ross, Smart & Final and Petsmart.

GameStop Inc. leases Vista retail space

VISTA -- GameStop Inc. leased 2,000 square feet of retail space at North County Square, 1841 University Ave., Vista 92083. The five-year lease is valued at $300,000.
