Oceanside chamber gets social with media

OCEANSIDE -- From 9 to 11 a.m Thursday, the Oceanside Chamber will hold its "Introduction to Social Media" seminar. It's designed to give local business leaders an overview as to why they should consider including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media in their marketing plans.

The event will be at the chamber office, 928 N. Coast Highway. Cost is $20 per person or free with registration to the chamber's six-part Social Media Workshop Series. For more information, call 760-722-1534.

Credit union starts headquarters construction

OCEANSIDE -- Pacific Marine Credit Union has broken ground on its new corporate headquarters building. It will be at 1278 Rocky Point Drive, on a 6.49-acre lot in the Ocean Ranch Business Park, at the corner of Oceanside Boulevard and Old Grove Road.

The two-story, 56,700-square-foot building is scheduled for completion in summer 2010 and will include a 4,000-square-foot full service branch office.

Clayco Corp. was commissioned to design and build the LEED-certified project. More than 250 employees will work at the new building.

PMCU is one of the top 10 largest credit unions in San Diego County, and is the only large credit union with its headquarters in North County. The current headquarters building is at Camp Pendleton, and will continue to be used to serve the military and civilian population living and working on the base.

The credit union's 11 branch locations include Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Miramar, Temecula, Barstow, Yucca Valley, 29 Palms, and Camp Pendleton.

MaxLinear inks five-year lease

CARLSBAD -- MaxLinear Inc. leased 20,966 square feet at 2051 Palomar Airport Road. The company also subleased 8,133 square feet from CVI Laser for a total of 29,099 square feet. The five-year lease is valued at approximately $1.7 million.

Lannie Allee and Roger Carlson of CB Richard Ellis represented the lessor, JCCE-Palomar LLC. Craig Knox of Irving Hughes represented MaxLinear Inc.

The lease brings the 195,942-square-foot building to 94 percent occupancy with one 11,444-square-foot suite remaining available for lease.

Other building tenants include Melles Griots, Issac's Distinctive Catering Services and Incinerator Studios.

MaxLinear Inc. is a semiconductor company focusing on highly integrated analog products such as TV tuners.

Del Norte High prepares to greet students

RANCHO BERNARDO -- Del Norte High School is to open in the fall, serving families living in Del Sur, 4S Ranch and surrounding neighborhoods. The high school is the fifth and last comprehensive high school to be opened in the Poway Unified School District.

The school is in Del Sur, which is known for its "smart growth" principles.

Situated on 62 acres on the northeastern border of Del Sur, the $102.5 million Del Norte High School can serve up to 2,150 students. The 217,097-square-foot campus exceeds state-mandated energy efficiency standards by 25 percent.

Industrial property sells for $1.4M

VISTA -- A 9,336-square-foot industrial property at 2373 La Mirada Drive in the Burke Sycamore Business Center has sold for nearly $1.45 million, said Ron King of Coldwell Banker Commercial (CBC), which represented the seller in the transaction.

The seller of the property, assessors parcel number 217-251-50-14, is Burke Sycamore Partners LP, a California limited partnership in Santa Ana. The seller was represented by the Coldwell Banker Commercial team of Ron King, David Onosko, Adam Molnar and Bob Willingham.

The buyer of the two-story building completed in 2006 is REDAC, represented by Tom Blackmore of Lee & Associates.

Concrete donated to Habitat for Humanity project

CARLSBAD -- Hacker Industries Inc. recently donated FIRM-FILL 2010 gypsum concrete floor underlayment to the San Diego Habitat for Humanity.

The product donation provided a smooth, hard surface for finished floor coverings in Habitat for Humanity's new Roosevelt Garden Condominiums in Carlsbad. Hacker Industries is in Newport Beach.
