VISTA -- Aperio Technologies Inc. says the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued it a patent titled "System and Method for Data Management in a Linear-Array-Based Microscope Slide Scanner."

Open Energy to develop system

SOLANA BEACH -- Open Energy Corp. entered into an alliance with iCeL Systems Corp., a provider of lithium-based energy storage and management systems for the renewable energy market, to develop a system for "dispatchable" renewable energy.

Upon completion, the prototype systems will be available through Open Energy and its affiliates.

FFF to distribute Fluvirin vaccine

TEMECULA -- FFF Enterprises Inc., a health care corporation based in Temecula, announced a three-year agreement with Novartis Vaccines for the distribution of its influenza vaccine, Fluvirin.

Blue Mine, Auto-Graphics strike deal

CARMEL VALLEY -- Blue Mine Group, a technology market development company, announced a partnership with Auto-Graphics Inc., a provider of Web-based library automation solutions based in Pomona. Blue Mine will provide Auto-Graphics with strategy, marketing and sales development.

Callaway to continue sponsorship

CARLSBAD -- Callaway Golf Co. announced that it extended its title sponsorship agreement with the Junior World Golf Championships through 2008. The championships will be played July 11-14 in San Diego.

Mattman wins two contracts

SAN MARCOS -- Mattman Specialty Vehicles Inc. was awarded two more contracts for its specialty vehicles.

The first is from the New Mexico State Police, for a mobile DUI checkpoint and holding cell. The other contract awarded was from the San Bernardino Police Department for the city's SWAT team.

Work finished on Garden View Court

ENCINITAS -- Construction is complete on Garden View Court, a 34,460-square-foot commercial complex at 700 Garden View Court. It was designed by KMA Architecture & Engineering.

Symposium to support center

Horses treated by local company

POWAY -- Vet-Stem Inc. of Poway says that 1,000 horses have now been treated with regenerative stem cell therapy in the United States. More than 750 horse owners have used Vet-Stem Cell therapy for regeneration of damaged tissues.

Westfield to establish 'Comfort Zones'

Westfield plans to add custom-designed, living room-style seating areas throughout its San Diego centers as part of a "soft seating" initiative. Westfield North County in Escondido and Westfield Plaza Camino Real in Carlsbad already have these "Comfort Zones."

La Caseta turns 'green'
