CARLSBAD -- ViaSat Inc. won a $21 million order from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, the company said in a news release Wednesday.
The contract covers terminals for what is known as a multifunctional information distribution system, which gathers battlefield information into a digital view. It connects users with digital data and digital voice communications. Delivery is expected to begin in July 2010 and continue through the end of the year.
ViaSat, of Carlsbad, reported earnings of $38.3 million on revenue of $628 million in the fiscal year that ended April 3. The unit focused on defense and government contracting reported fiscal-year revenue of $389 million.
ViaSat shares rose 5 percent to $27 in early afternoon trading Wednesday.
