Ossi gets Ivans award
POWAY -- The San Diego & Imperial District Export Council presented its 2009 Bill Ivans International Trade Award to SeaSpace Corp. and its president, Hyong Ossi.
SeaSpace makes equipment for monitoring weather and environmental conditions.
The council established the award in 2000 in memory of Bill Ivans, founder of Cohu Inc., which is also based in Poway.
Barnett and Hogan join Colliers
CARLSBAD -- Colliers International said Bill Barnett and Doug Hogan have joined the real estate brokerage's local office as senior vice presidents.
Barnett will specialize in site acquisitions and in the sale and leasing of shopping centers. Barnett was previously a director at Burnham Real Estate and Cushman & Wakefield of San Diego.
Hogan will focus on retail leasing and tenant representation.
Merrill adds financial advisers
RANCHO SANTA FE -- Financial services firm Merrill Lynch said its local office recently hired four people as financial advisers for clients.
Deane Curtiss, Bruce Morley and Mark Robles joined the office as vice presidents. David Menashe joined as a first vice president for investments.
Robles was previously with AG Edwards, while Curtiss, Menashe, and Morley were most recently with Morgan Stanley.
Tar Productions wins Telly
OCEANSIDE -- Tar Productions won a second-place Telly Award after producing a commercial for Winner's Tennis Club in Solana Beach. The production company is owned by Tim Ryan.
Bray to manage overseas turf
CARLSBAD -- Maintenance Net Inc. is expanding in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and has hired Andrew Bray as business manager for that region.
The Carlsbad-based company's technology helps manufacturers and distributors manage maintenance contracts with end users of the products.
Marcum top salesman
ESCONDIDO -- Ming Marcum was the top salesman last month at Mercedes-Benz of Escondido.
Marcum is a Taiwan native who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict, and later served in the American Embassy in Paris. He has owned nightclub and restaurant businesses and sold cars for Toyota of Escondido and Young Pontiac/Cadillac. He joined Mercedes-Benz of Escondido in 2003.
Healthy practice
CARLSBAD -- Chambers and Partners named the health-care practice at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP as one of the state's best in the 2009 California edition of Chambers USA.
The publisher also recognized Procopio attorneys George Root Jr., Mary Norvell and Diane Racicot as outstanding health care attorneys.
Barneses start travel group
OCEANSIDE -- Sandi and Tom Barnes recently founded their own travel group for seniors, TriCity Adventures. Barnes was previously a volunteer director of travel for Oceanside Senior Center.
Sandi has been in the travel business for 46 years and wants to put the Oceanside seniors back on the road after the recent closing of The Happy Wanderers.

PPH hires Knutson to oversee compliance
CARMEL MOUNTAIN RANCH -- Palomar Pomerado Health said it hired Martha Knutson as its new corporate compliance officer, with responsibility for ensuring that the health care district complies with state and federal laws.
Knutson served most recently as a compliance officer for Stamford Hospital in Connecticut. She previously held a similar position with Upper Chesapeake Health in Bel Air, Maryland.
Cataldo picked to lead bar association
CARLSBAD -- Attorney Mary Cataldo of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP has been elected president of the North County Bar Association for calendar year 2010. Cataldo was previously a director from 2003 through 2005 and will complete a second three-year term in December.
Cataldo's practice includes business, trust, estate, and probate litigation. She earned her law degree from Western State University College of Law. Cataldo teaches civil litigation, torts, and business law at Palomar College.
Torrey Pines Bank hires Schempp
NORTH COUNTY -- Torrey Pines Bank has hired Don Schempp as senior vice president for its north coastal market. Schempp brings 35 years banking experience in the area to the bank. Torrey Pines has seven branches, including locations in Carlsbad and Carmel Valley.
Maker receives certification
FALLBROOK -- San Marcos resident Linda Maker was certified in care management by The National Academy of Certified Care managers. Maker, a registered nurse with Innovative Healthcare Consultants Inc. in Fallbrook, has been practicing as a geriatric care manager since 2003.
