Carlsbad Gourmet gets 'Road Tasted'
CARLSBAD -- Carlsbad Gourmet, a company that makes foods with local ingredients, will cause taste buds to salivate on The Food Network's "Road Tasted" show at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 2 and 10 p.m. Sept. 12.
Among the company's edibles: a line of barbecue sauces made with beer from local brewers, such as Green Flash, Stone Brewing and Pizza Port.

Chamber to host candidates at breakfast
ESCONDIDO -- The Escondido Chamber of Commerce will present a Candidates Forum starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Escondido Country Club. Price is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. Reserve by Sept. 3 to (760) 745-2125.
Moderating at the breakfast forum will be Angelo Damante, owner of Mercedes-Benz of Escondido. Candidates will answer questions posed by the Chamber's Economic Development Committee. Also, candidates will be asked to submit an answer in writing to one question that will be posed to them after the forum.

Chamber plans Mingei mixer
ESCONDIDO -- Socialize and schmooze amid art at the Escondido Chamber of Commerce's "Business After 5" mixer at the Mingei International Museum. The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the museum, 155 W. Free help to start a business
ESCONDIDO -- If the preceding day's Mingei mixer wasn't enough for you, the Escondido Chamber of Commerce is offering a free seminar on how to start, buy and manage a small business.
The session begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at noon. It is sponsored by B.J. Mendelsohn, managing partner of The Delphi Group, a 45-year-old company specializing in business counseling and venture capital for small businesses.

Food, beer, wine, music -- I'm there!
ESCONDIDO -- Will the fun in Escondido never end? Downtown comes alive at Festival Escondido, with an art festival complete with sensory scintillation from noon to 5:30 p.m.
Food from more than 20 downtown Escondido restaurants pampers the palate, while bands play live music at two stages. Wine and beer tasting provide the requisite attitude adjustment, while art galleries showcase their works. Eve Selis is the special singing sensation, performing from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Legislative Summit set for Pechanga
TEMECULA -- The annual Legislative Summit of the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce will start at 7:30 a.m. at Pechanga Resort & Casino.
The summit, called "Shift Happens," (hey, we didn't name it) gives business and community members the opportunity to hear from state and local legislators on hot issues including education, the economy, water, crime, development, and energy.
Moderating will be Dan Walters, the veteran Sacramento Bee columnist. Panelists are: David Long, California secretary of education; Rod Pacheco, district attorney of Riverside County; Dan Carson, deputy legislative analyst; and Brian Thomas, assistant general manager of the Metropolitan Water District; Ken Carlisle, divisional vice president, Abbott Vascular; and Rayola Dougher, senior economic analyst, American Petroleum Institute.
Breakfast and networking will begin at 7:30 a.m. and a panel discussion will take place from 8-10 a.m. Attendees can then participate in a Q&A session with the speakers. Contact the Chamber at (951) 676-5090.
