We're proud of our 'hawker' news team!

Hawkers put their lives back together with hard work, the Alpha Project and the North County Times.

We are very proud of our hawker news team. Wearing bright blue hats and great big smiles, the North County Times hawkers are on the road to success.

Our hawkers work hard selling newspapers to busy North County commuters every morning, often entertaining customers with their animated sales techniques.

But there's more to being a hawker than selling papers. These men are members of Alpha Project/Casa Raphael, the nationally acclaimed nonprofit agency dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Each Alpha member has committed to making a real change in his life. Hawking allows Casa Raphael residents to work and help pay for their room and board during their comprehensive three-step recovery program. The North County Times provides newspapers to Alpha Project/Casa Raphael, which then keeps all profits earned. More than 400 Alpha Project/Casa Raphael residents have graduated from the program during its first four years.

We salute Alpha Project/Casa Raphael and appreciate the job well done day after day.
