SAN DIEGO - Bank of America announced Wednesday its "Museums on Us" program, which will enable its customers to visit museums and cultural institutions for free next month, was expanded to include 25 California locations such as the San Diego Museum of Art.

"Since we created the program 10 years ago, we have seen strong participation in Museums on Us among cultural institutions and customers in the Northeast," said BofA's Anne Finucane. "Wednesday, we are thrilled to announce that we will bring this nationally recognized program to 25 institutions across the state of California."

Anyone with a BofA credit card or ATM card can visit a total of 86 museums and cultural institutions nationwide without paying an admission fee next month, as can MBNA credit card holders.

A total of four San Diego area museums were added to the program:

- San Diego Natural History Museum;

- California Center for the Arts, Escondido;

- San Diego Museum of Man; and

- San Diego Museum of Art.

Additional Southern California participants:

- Autry National Center, Los Angeles;

- California African American Museum, Exposition Park, Los Angeles;

- Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles;

- Kidspace Museum, Pasadena;

- The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, San Marino;

- Japanese American National Museum, Los Angeles;

- Orange County Museum of Art;

- Laguna Art Museum;

- Newport Sports Museum, Newport Beach;

- Surfing Heritage Foundation, San Clemente;

- Newport Nautical Museum, Newport Beach;

- Ocean Institute, Dana Point;

- Discovery Science Center, Santa Ana;

- Riverside Art Museum; and

- Riverside Metropolitan Museum.

The other participating California locations are in San Francisco:

- Asian Art Museum San Francisco;

- California Academy of Sciences;

- San Francisco Museum of Modern Art;

- Yerba Buena Center for the Arts;

- de Young Museum; and

- Legion of Honor.
