Some bands have lyrics or riffs that make them unique, and separate them from the rest, but Temecula-based band My Last Revelation are slightly different.
The quartet prides themselves on embracing a spattering of differences that gives them the chance to shine a little bit of light on their unique side.
"The main thing that is unique about us is our female singer Priscilla Drewry," drummer Derrick Hatch said. "You don't see too many bands around here that play our type of music, and have a female singer. Also, our bassist (Kevin Hatch) is only 13 years old, making him two years younger than the rest of us, yet he still rocks on stage."
Comprised of Temecula's Hatch brothers, Jared Miller and Drewry, My Last Revelation formed through brotherly love, schoolyard friendships and a little feminine mystique.
"My brother started the band with me back in January," said Kevin. "We heard our friend Jared on guitar, and immediately knew that he was the perfect fit for the style we were going for. One day we invited Priscilla over to sing with us. We played one song, and were amazed at how well we clicked with one another, considering it was our first time ever playing together. My Last Revelation was born."
My Last Revelation plays Saturday at the Temecula Community Recreation Center in Temecula with Step Stevie Step and more bands to be announced. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show is open to all ages. Upcoming shows include Aug. 2 at The Vault in Temecula.
"The hardest part for us is getting together during the school year to practice," Miller said. "We all become so busy, and we have to make sure that we always stay on top of our game."
While the quartet can't help but credit bands such as Blink-182, +44, My Chemical Romance, Alkaline Trio and Paramore as some of their biggest influences -- they also never forget their local counterparts.
"Any local band that we have had the honor of playing a show with is really an inspiration to us," Drewry said.
When it comes to their upcoming Temecula CRC performance, however, Derrick can't help but exude confidence.
"People can expect a very energetic band on stage," he said. "We'll be playing a half-hour set that will include us covering songs by My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Alkaline Trio, +44, and Sum 41. In addition, we will also be playing a few of our originals, including a new one that will be premiered that night. Lastly, you can expect a few crazy drum solos from me towards the end of the show."
