Botanical gardens benefit: Alta Vista Botanical Gardens will host its annual Independence Day fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Brengle Terrace Park, 1400 Vale Terrace Drive in Vista, home of the city's fireworks display. There will be entertainment and Famous Dave's barbecue. The event opens at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7:30 p.m. Beer, wine and refreshments will be served. There is a tax-deductible donation of $50 for adults, $25 for children under 12, which includes reserved parking next to the Garden House. Reserve to (760) 945-3954 or (760) 941-5719.
