POWAY -- Temple Adat Shalom, 15905 Pomerado Road, honored member Mike Pfeiffer with the Kavod Award, the highest honor bestowed on a volunteer, at a special service Jan. 18. He helped develop Mitzvah Day, an annual event that gives congregants the opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) for those less fortunate; coordinated the Darfur program, enabling the "Lost Boys of Sudan" to return home; and helped raise funds for One Voice, a grass-roots group of Palestinian and Israelis united to stop the war and to have a peaceful co-existence.
