Scott Richards, a doctor who lives in San Marcos, is going to swim the English Channel this summer. This will give him what he calls the "Triple Crown" of open water swimming, the Catalina Channel, New York, and British. Richards says only 16 people previously have completed all three swims. Richards trains only in his backyard in a "endless pool."
