Cal State San Marcos President Karen Haynes addresses students, faculty and staff Monday at a meeting to protest Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's budget calling for $386 million in cuts from the California State University system for the 2008-2009 school year. In January, the governor proposed trimming roughly $4.4 billion in education spending to curb an estimated $16 billion deficit in the fiscal year beginning July 1. Haynes has said the university will get $6 million less in state revenue next year than it received this year.
