You could say vermiculturist Sharon McLachlan, 61, and her husband, John, 57, are experts in waste management -- converting rich Arabian horse manure into vermicaste. The red worm castings produced at Sharon's Worm World in Ramona are bagged, along with the wrigglers themselves, and sold as fertilizer. Adding the worms and castings to your garden is a natural way to till and aerate, improve water retention, enhance composting and reduce some insect pests.
