TEMECULA -- Author Diana Abu-Jaber is scheduled to discuss her latest novel, "Origin," at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Community Room of Temecula Public Library, 30600 Pauba Road.

Abu-Jaber, a writer in residence and associate professor of English at Portland State University in Oregon, has won numerous literary honors, including the PEN Center USA award for fiction, according to a news release from the Riverside County Library. Previous novels by Abu-Jaber include "The Language of Baklava," "Crescent" and "Arabian Jazz."

The new work is a story about a fingerprint specialist in a forensics lab seeking to explain a series of mysterious infant deaths, the release states.

In Thursday's presentation, Abu-Jaber is expected to read from the work and discuss it as well as field questions and sign books, which will be available for purchase.
