Three North County residents died Saturday in two unrelated traffic crashes, authorities said.
They identified the victims as Harry F. Caston Jr., 45, and his wife, Linda, 43, both of Vista, and Pricilla Lynn Denver, 26, of Pala.
The Castons were killed when their motorcycle veered into oncoming traffic at 11 a.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road on the Barona Indian Reservation, east of Ramona, officials said. The road was closed for two hours.
The Castons were on the second leg of the Lymphoma Research Foundation's poker run, a fund-raiser. Harry Caston was driving the 1994 Harley-Davidson and his wife, Linda, 43, was his passenger, said investigator Paul Parker of the county medical examiner's office.
The motorcycle was traveling about 45 mph when Caston lost control on a curve, Officer Phil Konstantin of the California Highway Patrol said.
The Harley slid into the opposite lane, where a 1999 Ford pickup truck hit the motorcycle head-on, said Konstantin.
Pickup driver John McCarthy, 55, of Ramona suffered a minor injury, authorities said. Konstantin said McCarthy was not at fault in the accident.
Harry Caston worked for Vista Plumbing and Linda Caston was a Bed, Bath & Beyond employee, Parker said. Two adult children survive the couple.
Eight hours earlier, a 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer rolled over on Pala Temecula Road in Pala.
Denver, believed to have been intoxicated, was driving the sport utility vehicle north at a high speed, Konstantin said. Officers said Pala resident Thomas Mojado, 18, was a passenger.
Unable to keep the TrailBlazer on the right side of the road, Konstantin said, the driver overcorrected when the vehicle started to veer.
The TrailBlazer hit a fence and rolled, landing on its wheels and blocking both lanes of traffic. The impact forced Denver, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, out of the vehicle, Konstantin said. She died at the scene.
Mojado, who wore a seat belt, suffered a gashed forehead, Konstantin said. The passenger was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of moderate injuries.
Denver is survived by her mother, Rachel Redford of Pala.
