The Beca Foundation Inc. offers the following scholarships to
Latino students in San Diego County high schools. Applications are
available from high school counselors or at the Beca Foundation
office at 830 E. Grand Ave., Suite B, Escondido. Applications,
transcripts and financial information must be received by March 1.

- General scholarships: Applicants must be spring 2004 North
County high school graduates who are entering college in fall 2004.
Amounts are $500 to $1,000. Some are renewable for satisfactory
academic progress. Applicants may pursue their education anywhere
in the United States and major in any academic area.
- Dan Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship: General Scholarship
criteria apply, except this $500 to $1,000 one-time scholarship is
open to high school seniors throughout San Diego County.
- The Alice Newell Joslyn Medical Scholarship: An applicant must
be entering the medical/health care profession and living in or
attending college in San Diego County at time of application.
Scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,000 and are renewable
contingent upon satisfactory academic progress and continuation of
a medical or health-care course of study. Open to high school
seniors and college students.
