Children's writers Edith Hope Fine and Judith Pinkerton Joseph of Encinitas are authors of "Armando and the Blue Tarp School." They just learned their picture book has been nominated this year for a "California Young Reader" medal.
But, there's more.
Students Pat Lydersen of Leucadia and Wendy Woolf of Carlsbad, who are child actors at Diegueno Elementary School and San Dieguito Academy, have written a little children's musical based on Edith's and Judith's book.
Bravo!
NEW DIGS ---- Glad to see popular Oceanside restaurateurs Zell and Gary Dwelly relocating their Beach Break Cafe up the street a block, (Cassidy and South Coast Highway). At times it's tough getting a seat at their cafe, but I've been assured the new digs will have a lot more room.
"Now we'll have two restrooms and 10 more tables and parking spaces," Zell told me.
There was a story in Friday's North County Times about the razing of the old corner gas station where the new restaurant will be built. The new cafe is expected to open by late summer next year.
CANCELED ---- The annual Oceanside Heritage Park Halloween Hi-Jinks party slated for Oct. 18, has been canceled due to parking issues.
