Fiesta scheduled at Guajome Park

VISTA -- The "Fiesta at Guajome" will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 18 at 2210 N. Santa Fe Ave. The event will feature American Indian and Hispanic traditional crafts, dancing and clothing. The main attraction is an equestrian performance by Escaramuza las Golondrinas. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 12. Children under 4 are free. Call 858-966-1331.

Ice cream social will feature guest speaker

VISTA -- Retired natural resources director Bill Taylor will speak at the Vista Historical Society's Ice Cream Social at 2 p.m. July 18 in the Park Terrace Cafe at Gloria McClellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace. Society vice president Paul Eckert will give an update on the opening of the Rancho Minerva museum. The social is open to all; ice cream will be provided. Volleyball, horseshoes tournament scheduled

VISTA -- Green Oak Ranch will host a free volleyball and horseshoes tournament with an outdoor concert July 18 at 1237 Green Oak Road. Events start at 9 a.m. and will last until the tournaments are over. The event is open to anyone who can field a team. Food will be provided by Green Oak Ranch's Holy Smoke BBQ. Hot wax painting workshop to be held

ESCONDIDO -- The Escondido Municipal Gallery will hold an "Encaustic Painting with Hot Wax" workshop from noon to 3 p.m. July 25 at 262 E. Grand Ave. Artist Jaime Lyerly will teach the basic techniques and cover everything from history, materials, substrates, tools and safety. Celebrate summer with classic cars
