FALLBROOK - The Fallbrook Moose Lodge No. 1992 is sponsoring a drive to help people displaced in the Rice Canyon fire, according to lodge Gov. Lee Robertson, who lost his home in the Valley Oaks mobile home park fire.

People who wish to donate items such as toiletries or clothing can drop them off at the lodge at 842 S. Main St. Those in need may pick the items up there as well. Information: (760) 728-8670.

Woman's Club to host teen party

FALLBROOK - The Fallbrook Woman's Club will sponsor its third annual "Rockin' With Santa" party for 50 teens from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Abby Reinke Center at Camp Pendleton. The teens are children of Marines, who are either deployed or who have been injured in combat. The party is an expression of appreciation from Fallbrook Woman's Club members for what the Marines do.

ldren choose and wrap presents for their parents from a selection provided by the club. FedEx will provide a pizza party and each teen will receive a goodie bag containing items such as gift certificates from various eateries, donated memorabilia from sports teams and donated items from local businesses.

Chamber seeks auction items

Artists sought for 'Everyday Heroes' show

ESCONDIDO - The Escondido Art Association invites artists to participate in its November exhibit, "Everyday Heroes," which will now honor the heroes involved in the local wildfires - fire fighters, police officers, neighbors, volunteers and even animals - who have helped during the firestorm.

All entry fees have been waived. Entries must be matted and framing is preferred.

Enter art work from 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Artists Gallery, 121 W. Grand Ave. The exhibit will run from Nov. 7 through Dec. 1. A public reception will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10.

Grape Day photos sought

ESCONDIDO - Historian Lucy Berk of Escondido is looking for photos of Grape Day festival participants from communities outside of Escondido for a book she is writing for Arcadia Publishing called "Escondido Grape Day Festivals."

Over the years, many communities and organizations throughout Southern California have participated in the festival with floats, marching groups and bands.

Mineral and gem show planned

Chocolate class for kids

CARLSBAD - The Carlsbad Recreation Department will offer chocolate candy-making classes, for kids ages 12 and older from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 and Dec. 11 at the Carlsbad Senior Center, 799 Pine Ave. The hands-on candy making class will introduce students to melting chocolate by microwave oven and to the basic fundamentals of chocolate dipping. This will be accomplished by demonstration and hands on practice. Participants will make a 'take home' box of chocolate-dipped candy favorites such as chocolate dipped dried fruit, peanut clusters, haystacks and peanut butter pretzels.

RB Fall Festival on tap

The festival will feature approximately 350 vendors, food booths, entertainment, children's activities and the popular "Strutt Your Mutt" contest. RANCHO BERNARDO - The Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary Club recently welcomed Michael Rennie, associate director of the Poway Center for Performing Arts Foundation, as its newest member.

A 16-year veteran of the nonprofit arts world, Rennie has worked at theaters in Florida, Arizona and San Diego. He oversees all marketing efforts for the PCPA Foundation's Professional Performance Series, with a focus on advertising, public relations and development and management of the foundation's Web site, http://www.powayarts.com. He is a semi-professional guitarist who plays regularly throughout San Diego.
