ESCONDIDO -- An open model search is under way for Escondido Fashion Week 2008, a new avant-garde downtown event sponsored by Mercedes Benz Escondido and the Downtown Business Association, set for May 5 through 10.

A local casting call for runway models and talent will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 17 at Bacio Boutique, 121 E. Grand Ave. (check in no later than 1:30 p.m.); and Unique Dimensions, 129 E. Grand Ave.

The search is on for tweens to mature women and men (ages 10 to 100) of all shapes and sizes. Previous modeling and/or acting experience is desirable. Bring head/body shots, portfolios and resumes, if available.

All models selected will have an opportunity to have professional portfolio photos taken, as well as portfolio experience reference. Models will be required to walk and present local couture and accessories in a main stage fashion event. Some acting will be required.

Models will be required to attend scheduled fittings and rehearsals. This is a nonprofit event. No wages will be paid; however, participants will receive valuable experience and portfolio reference.
