ESCONDIDO -- The Escondido-based Quad Foundation and Orfila Wineries will present "Taking the Next Step" fund-raiser Friday night.

A brief that ran in Thursday's paper incorrectly stated the day the gala would be held.

The event at Orfila Vineyards is a fine food and wine pairing with proceeds going to programs to benefit survivors of spinal cord injuries resulting in quadriplegia.

The evening begins with a "Meet the Experts" mixer from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wine, food pairing and a silent auction will take place from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be Mark Tuszynski of UC San Diego, who will present his research -- the first-ever proven example of spinal cord axonal growth. Chefs from local restaurants will create their specialty selections and music will be provided by the Peter Pavone Quintet.
